Yeah, this ^^^

Especially as they've made it pretty clear many times before that they don't like the whole media game/exposure. Time was, not all that long ago, that the internet and/or MTV didn't exist. If you wanted news about your favourite band you bought a magazine once a month and hoped something would appear in it. I recall literally scouring articles almost in desperation for news about the next Soundgarden album or whatever back in the early 90's.

Seems these days we've gotten used to having our info-fix on demand. Sometimes that can be a good thing. But when did availability cross the line into a "right".

If BOC don't want to furnish us with info, they don't have to. And frustrating though it is sometimes, I respect them all the more for it.

Besides, we've at least got MDG telling us the album should be out this year - more than many BOC fans have access to (go check out the MySpace or Last.FM site to see those even more in the dark than us).

Patience is a virtue...

Again, it would be nice to get a 'we are workin on new material' or even 'we are alive' on their music70/warp site. Absolutely nothing from them is a bit much, for this amount of time dont you think?

I know i am not the only one who thinks this.

Nah man. They don't owe us or anyone else anything - we're lucky enough for them to have ever released any material in the first place.

This whole whinging about a new album weirds me out to be honest. Yeah I get excited when I see activity and strong (e.g. MDG) rumours of new material etc... but BOC don't owe me anything. I honestly don't get what all the weirdness re:new material is about.

It'll come when it comes, or worst-case-scenario it won't. Either way, getting annoyed about it isn't going to change/achieve anything.

I know I'm in the minority here, but no, I really don't think they should have to tell us anything if they don't want to.

But then, in a round about kind of way - they have told us. Sort of (ie. MDG).

Hey anyway, what are we worried about?

Ok so I might be daft, but the more quiet/ silent boc are, the more I respect/admire them. hehe. Then again, I could be a bit masochistic.
In all honestly, to me its a bit refreshing to see a fairly popular band like boc, but no behaving like one.
I would feel kind of disappointed if I saw them on pitchfork and the likes all the time. I guess it adds to their aura, you feel like the theme they put in their music, they practice themselves. Like they are separated from all this music/corporation/media bullshit. thats my two cents hehe.
in the meanwhile, lets enjoy what we have. :D I agree, we are fortunate to have what they have released up to date.

The lack of news is actually making me more receptive to the new material when it comes out. I'd prefer to taste and swallow new BoC the way they're serving it than after weeks of teaser material and "stuff coming soon!" updates hinting at this or that.

yeah. i have to agree with these guys. i am not bothered so much by the lack of little tweeter updates or teases. I'd rather their website just up and change one day with like a release date and then maybe a track released a week before the album.

Every other artist on the warp label release an album every year or two and
drukqs?

Anyway, Infinite Sevens and the replies have nailed it on the head. The more reclusive they are, the more people crave for their music and respect what they've released. It's the perfect marketing ploy, because it's against everything music labels usually want from their artists.

That's the main reason why 'boards of canada' has almost 60 million results of Google and 'beyonce' has only 53 million.

Now, I'm probably regretting ever starting this thread...
Porridge?

No, that's wrong.
