What's the latest movie that struck you?

yeha I loved Amelie also.

just watched Crash the other day, was great film, but saw Break your back mountain last night, never got to see it when it came out, yeah it moved me haha - once i got over Jake in his silly acting role and got cought up in the cinematography it was great, a fantastic movie and a very moving story - had a lot of Poignancy considering recent events in life etc dont worry im not a cowboy and im not a man so nothing like that.

was struck quite a lot by LA Story when it came out, was possibly on medicaiton at time so maybe it was that but ever since then when i see it i feel so emotional for days after

just got march of penguins out so will let u know tomorrow if it moves me at all

Crash: Most of you should know how good this movie is by now from the other thread. If you still haven't seen it yet I strongly recomend it, probably my favorite film in '06 so far.

Waiting: Ok, this film didn't move me but it made me laugh my ass off! It's about a crew that works at your average everyday restaurant/bar and the antics that go on behind the scenes. It'll make you think twice about ever being an asshole to your waiter/waitress ever again. Don't fuck with people that prepare your food!

Jarhead: About a group of Marines fighting the first Gulf War, staring Jake Gynnthal. (sp) This is a very powerful film that takes you through a soldiers every emotions while fighting over in the Middle East. I knew the Marines were tough, but thses are some hardcore motherfuckers! I don't support war, and this makes me NEVER wanna be in the armed forces. Still, you have to respect what they're doing. Highly recomended.

Quality Of Life: Ok, I saved the best for last, this is definately one of my favorite indie films. It's about the life of 2 grafitti artists living in the Mission District of San Francisco. While one is trying to better his life, the other is on the downward spiral of drugs, violence, and vandalism. This will keep you on the edge of your seat right up utill the very end. It builds and builds untill a very powerful climax explodes at the end of the film. I think everyone here should see this, it has a very good soundtrack too. It was cool cause when I saw this I was in San Fran visiting my sister and we saw this at The Roxy in The Mission District. One of the scenes in the film was actually shot in the exact theatre where we were. Check out the trailer, if the first one doesn't work, scroll down till you get to the second one.

i just watched "requiem for a dream" last week; i had already seen it once when it came out, and the movie itself struck me deeply (the extreme loneliness of the mother; the sad despair for the one next hit, for the one next opportunity to make it big, etc); but what really struck me this time was the interview with the author (Hubert Selby Jr.) included in the dvd. i don't want to spoil it for you; but i really hope i can achieve the clarity and wisdom that Selby has when i am older...

i'll post a few more when i get more time.

I saw that movie a long time ago, I'll have to see it again soon. I remeber it hitting very close to home, cause I was using pretty heavy at the time. The Basketball Diaries is also a film that does a good job showing life through an addicts eyes. Whew, glad those days are over.

thats a great fucking film. watched it so many times. but the best time i watched it was the morning after a hard night out.

I don't think i could watch Requiem for a Dream again. I thought it was great, almost a work of genius, but it unsettled me so much. Physically too. I watched it in my house one night a little bit drunk and the scene with the game show hallucianations almost made me sick. My heart was pounding, i couldn't breathe right. It was that fucking intense. A film has never done that to me before. Maybe Eraserhead in the cinema is the only one that comes close.
He's a genius just for doing that!

Well same here 'Pi' and 'Requiem For A Dream' i've seen i don't know how many times! I bought Pi on import dvd
for over 33 euro [expensive] when it has been released, now you can get both for 10 euro each, but my Pi is has the original sleeve. Let's see what 'The Fountain' brings us.
