Hello all,

My name's Pimpanicaille and I live in Paris, somewhere in France. As I'm writing, "Slow This Bird Down" is playing in my head but I'm not listening to it, it always happen with Boards of Canada, some of their tracks will just stay inside my brain for hours and hours, I don't even have to listen to them, which saves energy, one of the commandments of BoC (cf Energy Warning).

I can't remember when I discovered BoC, I think it was in 2005 or 2006 with Geogaddi, and I can't live without it now.

None of my friends know of this band and I like the idea of a place dedicated to it.

And I can't wait for them to release something new.

Welcome, I know the feeling of not even listening the music- it's as if it breathes along side your entire body and is parallel in almost every aspect sometimes (at least for me).

Hi everyone.

I'm 19, I've been writing electronic music for a few years, starting in trance, but then I slowly got more into techno and minimal then dark ambient and then started leaning towards IDM once I discovered Tycho and Boards of Canada.

When I DJ, I'll still be dropping heavy techno tracks, but when I'm writing music or just listening in my room, I prefer to not really be thinking about a crowd; just about the textures and colors and how they twist around each other. The result is me finding myself as far more of an IDM producer than a trance producer; I never saw that coming haha.

Hi everyone

My name is Dieter, I live in Belgium and I was born in the year 1987. I grew up listening particularly to punk rock (and playing the guitar/singing in a punk rock band), but got bored of it as I got older. Nowadays I listen to all kinds of music but I've noticed that I tend to lean to the more psychedelic stuff.

I discovered Boards of Canada say... 2 or 3 years ago. I don't quite remember. The only thing I remember is that it was the album the Campfire Headphase that I got in contact with (I even believe that it was my sister who got me into BoC). This kind of music was something that I had never heard before and it gave me some kind of feeling which I couldn't explain. I then searched the internet for more info about these guys and other albums that I should check out, and so I discovered Music Has the Right to Children, Geogaddi and Trans Canada Highway. I don't have an elaborate collection with rare BoC items like most of you guys over here do, but I can assure you all that I ADORE BoC and that the feeling only gets stronger.

I have been lurking around over here for a few days now, having to conclude that this is a very nice forum!

So here I am guys. Hope I'll be having a good time over here!

Haha thanks guys, and thanks for the compliment BrandNewRetro. Most of those pedals I use to create some 'ambientish' stuff. Bit of reverb/delay.

As I listen to and play some post rock as well, these pedals come in quite handy.

My name is Noah and I am from Edinburgh, Scotland; although I am currently living in Perth. I'm a big fan of electronic music (my first experiences were "Selected Ambient Works '85-'92" by Aphex Twin and "76:14" by Global Communication.) I discovered Boards of Canada about a year and a half ago after someone I know gave me a CD with a selection of tracks on it (if anyone cares I'll try and find the tracklist, it was obviously good as I'm here now

) shortly after that I downloaded their discography and then bought the CDs I could find.

I'm also a musician, I'm working on a project titled "Tranquil Polarity" with a friend of mine called Adam, we finished work on an EP about two months ago but haven't uploaded it anywhere (if anyone is interested, you can find two of the songs here (the album we finished is a fusion between metal and downtempo/ ambient electronica. I'm still quite uncertain about the end result but what we are working on now is quite different.))

Anyway; I feel I'm starting to ramble, see y'all around.

Name's Syni, actually no that would be an awful name... Anyway I'm a short-time Boards fan as I just discovered them a few months ago, yet I'm pretty positive I have everything readily available through p2p -cough-. I make music as well, I've been producing for some odd years and time just slipped away I guess. I've been through one too many aliases and am trying to settle on one but I doubt that will happen. Now I'm stuck on River Precinct.

I also like photography, image manipulation, playing random semi-hypnotic acoustic guitar riffs, random walkabouts in the forest and looking at light/shadow from different angles. In addition to those I have other really weird interests that I may or may not bring up. :>

Welcome. I'd be more than happy if you were to share some of your art (music, photos, etc...). This forum seems to attract the gifted.

hello.

i'm daniel. i live in one of the many suburbs of atlanta, ga.

i got into boards of canada a bit over two years ago. the first time i listened to them, i was sitting in my basement with a couple of my friends talking about pokemon and other videogames we played as kids. i had just downloaded "music has the right to children". so it was kind of fitting that our conversation was so nostalgic. we were really weirded out and very intrigued by "aquarius".

that album and geogaddi ended up being the soundtrack to my subconscious for several months. just about every dream i had felt like their music, if that makes any sense.

i used to play piano/keys in a band, though i left/was kicked out a few months back. it's a long story. now i'm working at a gas station and going to college in the fall.

i still write music, though i need a band to make the songs feel complete. it's kinda shoegazey, and almost uncomfortably uplifting, and it definitely needs guitars and bass and drums and a powerful vocalist, none of which i can adequately provide.

this is the first boards of canada album i've actually had to wait for, so i'm really looking forward to it.
