There is no new album
They don't care about thier fans, they've made that abundantly clear. It's fun to see how long you can string people along though isn't it?
Not really, but sometimes I feel like that. I can't help feeling sometimes that they make music for themselves, not because people love what they do, but because they love themselves. For years I wouldn't believe this about FSOL, but then it turned out to be true, and then they released 'The Isness', and I realised it really was true.
This will probably be seen as utterly repellant iconoclastic rantings. But I really do question the philosophy of some artists. How many people here wouldn't kill at the chance to see BOC live? Yet they know it's never going to happen unless they're elite enough to work for WARP records. As far as I'm concerned music is about the fans as much as the music, sometimes people just want to get together with hundreds of other people who 100% share their devotion to a certain sound, and celebrate their mutual love of it. How amazing would that be? Yet it appears to be totally beneath BOC to even consider it.

okay, let's take the "WHY NO LIVE PERFORMANCE
" argument.
there are a few likely reasons why they don't.
one: it's probably incredibly difficult for them to get a live performance set up. they've got SO much equipment, and it's probably VERY expensive for them to move it around.
plus, it's probably very important equipment to them; full-fledged fountains of nostalgia. it'd be like taking your brand new laptop or other coveted device into an auditorium full of die-hard fans of you.
i dunno, but i'd be scared about it being broken or something. that, and just the sheer difficulty of it moving around is probably a huge hassle.
also, because they're not a very big group (popularity-wise; sure, they have several true and die-hard fans, but they don't have a very wide fan base), they probably don't have too much money lying around to cart stuff around and such.
plus, that just might not be their style. maybe their passion is just making music; not showing other people that music. maybe that's just a bonus on the side (for both parties).
therefore, maybe it's just not in their interest to do live performances. that might not be what they want to do. imagine yourself trying to do something that you don't like to do.. something where your heart's just not in it.. now try imagining making people pay you just so you could see it, when it's a huge hassle on you, and when it's taking away from your valuable writing, recording, and producing time.
there could be a plethora of reasons; these may be just a few.

Re: There is no new album
I think I disagree with almost everything you said. The first (and sole?) purpose of music should be the expression/taste of the maker. So they should make music for themselves, not because they love themselves, but because they can't stop making music. If other people appreciate it, well it may give the maker some love, but that never should be the main reason to create music, it takes the heart out of music. It is the difference between a house decorator and Picasso, between pop music and BoC.The_Cuckoo wrote:They don't care about thier fans, they've made that abundantly clear. I also don't understand the reasoning why BoC should owe us anything. They created some great music, you paid for it (or not) and you've bought yourself some great music. I don't think you've paid for any new material?
That being said I understand your frustration a little bit, but don't let it devour you love for Boc....
Unexpect the expected
How dare they not release according to The Cuckoo's deadlines? When BoC started this band all those years ago they swore never to abandon their dream of fulfilling The Cuckoo's desire for album releases on his terms. I think it's rude of them to even pretend to be a The Cuckoo-based band at this point, because they're just not meeting his expectations. HMV should move their releases to the Non-"The Cuckoo" section.
You really have to wonder about a band that doesn't cater to spoiled cunts on the Internet.

Guess you missed the part underneath where it said 'not really'. In your mission in like to act like a complete cunt you saw an opportunity and went with it, not even bothering to read the post. You must be some fucking loser to want to jump on top of people so quickly.wmarsh wrote:How dare they not release according to The Cuckoo's deadlines? Fuck you in the earhole you vile little cuntbag. Take your head out of your dirty fucking ass. That goes for pretty much everyone else here too. I've never seen so much holier then thou, elitist, bullshit.
Boo Fucking Hoo. Go cry somewhere else. BoC will release a new album when they're ready.

Can you really see any point when you see the replies on here? New people on this forum get talked to like they're all fucking idiots and not worthy to make any comments without being thoroughly flamed. Then they wonder why no one wants to post here. There's a lot of fucking tossers here, between them and the constant censorship you see on here, this is pretty much the last time I can bothered to post here. Like I said, too many elitist cunts.Mindshifter wrote:Wow, you're not really acting like a friendly stranger.The_Cuckoo wrote:Guess you missed the part underneath where it said 'not really'. We just get sick of seeing the same shit posted, and new people just so happen to re post everything without searching.The_Cuckoo wrote:

This thread for example. Basically bitching about no new album. Awesome. Like 10 people have made the same thread over the past year. MDG HAS SAID THERE WILL BE A NEW ALBUM THIS YEAR! Just fucking deal with it like the rest of us.

Nobody ever wants to hear someone whine about a new album unless they feel like whining too. All the regulars here have already done their whining, so they're tired of the whining.
Whiner.
Anyway, nothing anyone says makes BoC churn music out any faster.
There are a whole lot of fucking great bands and artists out there. Go enjoy them. You'll be back.
Viper.
