I, for one, am glad the Cuckoo started this thread. Dude has a right to his opinion, does he not? More than anything, it's a reason to come to this subforum. I feel if it weren't for these threads, this subforum would die on the vine, but that's just me.

It's going to be nearly impossible for them to release something new at this point and not have it be underwhelming. After four years since their last release (an EP with only a few new tracks, more so) I'm sure everybody wants to be blown away by what they do next... Maybe they've just been busy making sure it's absolutely perfect--or, get this! Maybe they've taken a break because one of them has a family. God forbid.

Seriously, though. I want these guys (and a LOT of artists) to release new albums, but they have lives. I mean, shit, I've had three LPs finished for the last six months but I haven't been able to get them released because I have things going on. Just relax, Warp will coax them into putting something out sooner or later--if not, oh well. They're not the only producers out there.

But I would still wet myself if they put out something new.

Did you miss the part where we had a purported 'insider' spend three years promising upcoming material just around the bend only to clam up when nothing came of it? Who was made a moderator of this forum?

Here's an analogy to take or leave as you will. A few years back my girlfriend at the time spent an evening leading me on, getting me excited and anticipating to then at the key moment say that no, from the start she didn't actually want to have sex that night and was going to bed. She had just playfully enjoyed getting me riled up. Frustrated as hell, before sleep I calmly and directly told her "Don't. Tease. Me." She got the message.

Just as I didn't feel "entitled" to anything that night, I don't believe that anyone here feels "entitled" to more work from B.O.C. Instead they are tired of being led on about it by this 'insider'. As I've said previously almost a year ago - either put out legitimate information or stay silent. And if you're going to speak and get peoples hopes up and massively excited, then you'd better well have something to say and an explanation when what you've said doesn't pan out. More silence doesn't cut it, so otherwise this person shouldn't have started the cycle to begin with.

That is why I agree 100% with The Cuckoo's sentiment, even if his tone is unfortunate.

Implying that those of us who are frustrated by what's played out on this forum wouldn't fully enjoy a new release is also bogus. I mean, from my analogy had my girlfriend woken up at 4 a.m. ready to go I certainly wouldn't have declined. However this situation with the album is more like days and days after the fact with someone who slipped out in the middle of the night without a word.

All of that said, the hard truth is that absent unproven information (to put it mildly) from an 'insider', B.O.C. has not put out a substantial release in five years, and as a group who releases music publicly is effectively inactive. Some of us will choose to happily be in denial of that fact, and others frustrated by its reality, but at the end of the day we all would love to hear something new if its ever truly to happen. The apparent need to drown out the more pessimistic of the bunch is something it would be nice to see less of around here.

Pfff. You sound like my ex boyfriend. Sex isn't life. BoC isn't life. If you're emotionally disrupted by either of these things, reassess your value system because that's the problem, not the behavior of others.

So you're saying that your value system is to enjoy being lead on about things in life that you savor and become excited about without any fulfillment? Somehow I doubt that.

My value system is to forgo the enjoyment of things that require ridiculous buildup and promise of future happiness. But I'm just wired that way. Some people are promise-oriented. They want to expect something and then have it happen, or not expect it in the first place. I consider life to be so unpredictable that placing the expectation in the first place is foolish. That's just me. As far as I'm concerned I don't give a flying shit if BoC never releases anything, whether or not anyone, insider or anyone anywhere at all, even BoC themselves, promise it. Whooptie doo. Tomorrow is another day.

Indeed.

And still 213 days till 2011. We're not even halway through 2010 yet. Where's the patience?

Some bands prefer to remain silent as a grave, others prefer to be socially aware of everything surrounding their online presence. Whilst others tend to be vague, but still give little tidbits.

Who are we to judge them for their ways of providing information. Let's be happy for even the smallest bit of info and noone says you're obliged to read/believe any of it.

like most folks, traveling is one of my dreams in life. how lame is it that i'm afraid to leave, in case the new album drops while i'm off backpacking, with no connection to the internet or money to spend on records.

That's totally cool Joe, I feel the same way. Literally the first thing I do every morning is come here hoping to see some news :D If I somehow miss the announcement, I would never forgive myself

If we hear news, it will be coming from Warp's news letters through e-mail like all the other times.
