Why go put my trust in someone who's part of the system that I obviously don't believe in (otherwise this whole last week would have never happened) to tell me how I should be thinking and feeling, when it's FAR more fun and interesting to figure shit out on my own? Who can you trust more than yourself?
that's a good point though.
I hear where you're coming from. It is incredibly freaky at first. I have started to meet a couple other people recently who are on the same page as I am right now and they have felt exactly the same way. So, I'm not the only one, which is great. I've gotta say, now that the freakiest part seems to be over, I feel stronger and more confident than ever.

So, I propose to you this. What if it's not so much losing contact with reality, but coming into contact with reality?

it' always curious to see some eager to jump to psychiatry when topics get a little off-norm. helpful to some? surely. but i wonder how many great things, ideas, revelations, and inventions have been quelled over time by lithium, 'anti-psychotics', and the majority of the cornucopia of pharma-trash.

the world is largely the way it is because of a handful of people who had something absolutely strange to say.

don't throw the baby out with the bathwater.

Like you may or may not now, I've spent my entire adult life so far in psychiatric clinics. Not anymore, I've quit because I was tired of giving up my autonomy for people (mental health professionals) who said they could solve my problems if I just followed their rules and took my medicine. I actually feel much much better now I've regained the freedom to arrange my life in my own (sometimes unconventional) ways. So I agree with the point you're both making. In these years I've met a good number of people who were diagnosed with psychosis and schizophrenia. One person I knew who had this diagnosis believed that the angels in heaven spoke to him through voices in his head. This actually helped him rather than that his so called schizophrenia disabled him. On the other hand, I'm not giving up my point completely. Throughout the years I've gathered enough information about these type of illnesses that I'm at least personally pretty cautious with reading up too much on conspiracy theories and related topics. I agree with Zeitgeist that if every person with new ideas would be labeled as sick, paradigm shifts would be much more unlikely. Still, the fact that not every strange idea is necessarily psychosis-related doesn't mean that there isn't such a thing as truly delusional thoughts (which can be crippling if no help is sought). I was just trying to help.

no worries guido. i apologize because my post seemed to be directed at you specifically, which wasn't what i intended. you undoubtedly have valuable insight and a good point to make here as well.

i am simply frustrated in general at how difficult it can be to communicate ideas that are strange. it's difficult in my personal relationships when i can't express myself, or when others don't understand, whatever the topic. i believe there is a big difference in what mechanismj is trying to articulate, and what some are seeing here.

i don't want to speak for him, so i will just suppose that it's all irrelevant though, because it seems his goal is more to share his elation, not to 'convert' anybody.

That's definitely surprising, Guido - I don't know if you let on more to others close to you, because I had no idea. I'm glad you're able to get by and even prosper without their aid. Your music, as I've said before, is stunning and I look forward to seeing you continue on the good path :)

Zeitgeist, I do agree with what you're saying to the same extent that Guido does. There does seem to be a general response that if someone isn't mentally sound, or is acting in a way not seen as mentally sound, they should be referred to a doctor - but so often you hear about people (my brother being one) who decide to come off the meds and try alternative therapies. I'm not making any statement here, it's just interesting is all. Of course, each case should be judged individually by the persons affected by someones behaviour (whether that's the person himself, or family, etc.)

I didn't knew that either Guido. Wow, you can be proud that you fought your way back to society like that. And yes, I second hexagonlife's in that your music is stunning!
I know that your first post was meant in a good way.
You all (Guido, Zeitgeist & Hexagonlife) have good points.
So far I find this conversation intriguing and very interesting. I didn't expect that my first post would end up in this interesting stuff!
Keep em coming guys!
