Awesome band.

They got me into post-rock, then I started to move away from them and listen to other stuff but lately I've been listening to them a whole lot more.

They're pretty much amazingly brilliant.

So they're officially broken up now? That sucks, I was kind of hoping for an album in the vein of Albanian and that other one. But it pretty much seemed like it was going to happen anyway.

Officially they are on "indefinite hiatus". Given how ASMZ has taken off, it is unlikely that there will be any activity from GYBE for quite some time to come, if at all. But they have not officially called it quits, so there's always hope.

Yeh, they got ripped for the Mogwai biting a lot in the early days ... all from my hometown, saw a load of gigs they did years ago ... they were signed to the label run by the venue I used to hold clubnights at ...

Nice to see something decent come from these parts

And now, for my next trick, to dig up a 3 month old half-conversation about a band not even connected to the title of this thread

New Upcdowncleftcrightcabc+START album out of October. And sitting listening to their debut again at the moment, whether they like the comparison or not, if you like Mogwai you should check em out. I totally forgot how good they are.

LIVE mini-UK tour this December to warm up for All Tomorrow's Parties. Might check out the Bristol gig. Anyone else up for it?

Hehe, thanks. I re-read it and realised I shouldn't have said it because I hadn't really paid attention to the previous posts... plus it was just a pointless point to make (FYI: criticising GSYBE).. :)

Just got Yanqui U.X.O. on wax. Never heard of them before and now I love them!

Ohforfuckssake, why can't they swing by Denmark!?

Along with BoC, Autechre, Radiohead and The National, GY!BE is my favourite band!

Godspeed sell out on tickets faster than any band I've attempted to hear live. They are playing seattle again and of course I"m shit out of luck.
