Do you live near any famous musician?

Post by Stry Craty Bya »

I just realized, Wisp is from Niagara Falls, New York!

I live in Buffalo! If you're not from the United States you might not realize that these cities our right next to each other! I never would have realized someone within an hour drive was signed to Rephlex Records! Any of you live near or are from the same origin of an at least somewhat of a famous musician or band? I know we must have at least a few people from the UK on here. So tell me: HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE ON THE SAME LAND MASS AS MIKE AND MARCUS SANDISON?

Peter Frampton and Bootsy Collins live in our city.

Also, Charles Manson was born in our city too.

Martin Price (founder of 808 State) lives just up the road from me, I've been round his house a couple of times. Then we've got Autechre who aren't too far away, the Skam record label is based near here too. Bola, Jega, loads that I can't think of at the moment to be honest, Manchester is quite an influential place when it comes to music :D

No, but I saw Bjork's house once when I was in Iceland. It was normal.

Robert Plant lives in a valley tucked away about 20 minutes drive from me. Same county, very reachable. My father and I have gone up there once and seen his house, it's like a Swiss chalet. It's also located in Artists Valley... same name as the record label. When Planty is over in Wales he sometimes pops into Aberystwyth literally hours apart from when I do... I have never caught him yet...

Also Bron Yr Aur, (where plant and page chilled out and wrote many songs including the ones named after it) is about 45 minutes away, and pretty findable. Pity the guy who owns it is keeping it strictly private

Sean Booth lives near where I currently live, as does Dani Filth (yuck). Brian Eno too. I share a hometown with Blur. That guy from Interpol was born in Clacton, near where I grew up, but moved to the US as a kid.

And all of that pales in comparison to Manchester's influence on music during the 80s/90s. Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays, The Smiths, 808 State (as you mentioned) have a lot to do with the sound of 50% of bands ever since.

I've never actually been north of the Watford Gap, but y'know.

I hear Jandek lives around me, but it's hard to know what's true and what's folklore when it comes to that guy.

I lived for four years in a town (and was born there too) where the oldest open air pop festival of Europe began and was held for about 20 years (Pinkpop). U2, Incredible String Band, Uriah Heep, Status Quo, Rory Gallagher performed there and Mick Jagger visited once. All within a kilometer from my house. My eternal forum avatar was photographed there on the 1979 edition.

Oh sure, I live in Orlando!

All of N'Sync, Backstreet Boys, O-Town, etc are from here. So are Creed, Matchbox 20, and a bunch of other terrible bands.

We also have claims to Shaq, Carrot Top (who I seem to cross paths with everywhere. He is jacked as hell now), Tiger Woods, Vince Carter, and the guy who is in the BoC video for Dayvan Cowboy (Joe Kittinger) lives 4 houses down lol.
