Hi, my name is Alex, I'm a musician from Boston, Massachusetts I've been a fan of BOC since the summer of 98. I love writing various types of music, what ever I'm in the mood to do. I play guitar been playing for over 20 years and I'm also into recording and I'm obsessed with GEAR! I have a simple PT Mbox II (working on getting a Digi 003 rack), software plugins I use mainly EZ Drummer & Steve Slate for rock/metal drums,Ableton, I use Reaktor for almost everything, some pro tools plugs for compression.

Hardware toys I own a Moog Little Phatty, Yamaha An1x, Akai MPC 2000 and a fun Casio Sk5. Amps I have a Marshall 900 head 100 w, a Yamaha amp head 50w this model licensed Soldano specs. 2 marshall 4x12 cabs one is from the 70s beat up pretty badly but it still sounds amazing. Good handful of pedals and some old efx racks. So yes I can geek out forever about gear. My focus is getting the Digi 003 and a nice preamp either a API or Avalon. I own about 9 guitars, 2 were made from parts.

BOC was a big influence musically but especially on home recording, they made me really thinking about the process of capturing sound and developing my own recording techniques. After reading a bunch of BOC interviews on how they prefer hardware/outboard gear got me thinking mainly about the difference in sound quality with plugins verses hardware: Synths, effects and compressors. Basically I decided to upgrade, hence the Moog and AN1x. Oh yeah can't forget the casio. Being a guitar player I love a micing an amp over a plugin so that convinced me to switch. Plus I need to save on CPU usage

I'm studying audio I want the experience with being able to use some of the big toys.. I had a chance to record at Universal in Los Angeles last summer and I saw the API console in the room, all the preamps, compressors, Rhodes, big room and so. Also a good friend who's a video editor took one of my home demos that summer and used it for a big local type sport show which became the theme song. It just echoed that it can be a reality if I work hard for it, my inner voice said "go back to school." I live to do music/audio hopefully for a living, for film and TV is my main goal. I'd take a guitar for hire gig also.

Besides who wants to work shitty day job?

BOC was an over all inspiration for me. Their music really helped me push myself and think outside of the box.

After I made my account I noticed so many turquoise in people's names.
Maybe start a turquoise bike gang?

Hi everyone! I'm Filip, 21 years and a newbie to this forum. Currently I study business in Rotterdam (Holland). I'm known with BoC for probably 2,5 years now and for the last year I've been listening to them very intensely. I find their music very inspiring. I'm looking forward to participate on this forum...

Thank you for the warm welcome..

I do have a couple music pages one is for my rock stuff and the other more electronic/experimental stuff but I took down the music because my newer demos have improved and this past March I got the Moog and AN1x. I did write a sort prog/pop tune with the Moog, I'm working to finish it. I can post some latest rough demos alot of them are unfinished but would love to hear what you all think. I'll post the links to them when I have a chance. I won't take offense to any opinions. I'm going to fight like hell not to. Music is a subjective thing and thats what makes it a beautiful thing. Everyone will have their likes and dislikes.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello all,

I'm Nevin, currently living in Sacramento, California. I've been a member of the forum for a while but never introduced myself. Yep, I like boards of canada, but of course I dig stuff like autechre, squarepusher, bibio, aphex twin, various punk bands and the like.

Haven't had a job in a while due to the economy. Which is fine by me. I'm hoping to hear back soon from a graduate program I applied to that is focused on climate change science and solutions on how to deal with the problem. Any other grad students out there?

I just realized that I've never introduced myself so I'll give it a go

My name is Paul; 23 and enjoying the many flavors of life. I got into BoC back in high school and was instantly hooked on the unique harmonics that I've never experienced before. I started telling all my friends about them and was able to get them hooked as well. The bliss and reverie of nostalgia, the wonderment of nature, the childlike feelings of wonder and awe...all of these things are beautiful to me and BoC captures them phenomenally.

I was inspired by BoC and started my own music, which I called Turquoise Memories. I adore the color turquoise...there's something so magical enchanting about it. Interestingly enough, it's the "official" color of 2010 as declared by Pantone (don't ask me how they figure this out). I was so incredibly happy to find Twoism a few years ago (browsed until I finally registered last year) and discover other people creating their own musical harmonics with that delightfully-familiar BoC-esque quality to it.

There's no drama here, which I admire, and I feel very comfortable here.

Hello. I'm a twenty-something, hellbent heathen, wedged somewhere between Los Angeles and Palm Springs. I've been called an "old soul"—whatever that means. I enjoy most things strange and obscure. During my spare time I write sad-bastard folk songs, watch foreign horror films, drink beer, eat Thai food, and cycle. I most enjoy Boards of Canada while reading, studying, or during altered states of consciousness.

. Isn't the oe in German the same as ö (or at least at the internetz)? Welcome anyway! Any songs online btw on myspace or elsewhere?

Oh, and about my music, I don't have anything recent. However, there exists a hideous, blasphemous, anti-electropop song that I recorded half a decade ago. I'm not certain if I feel inclined to share it, haha.

where southwest do you live? i'm moving to arizona in a year or so. would you recommend it?
