That's a good thought. I hope you're right.Mexicola wrote:Just thinking, but anyone thought that maybe, just maybe, the reason MDG is even quieter than normal is that he is busy. And by 'busy', I don't mean doing the school-run or pressure washing the patio. I mean 'busy' as in getting ready for an impending release?
Just a thought...

Excellent question. And there we enter the wibbly, wobbly World of assumptions and speculation (again).
If - IF- he is the guy running things like their Website/MySpace/Facebook, etc then any new album release would surely involve work on these at the very least. He said as much a while back as I recall (about the website overhaul - not him being the guy doing it). If (there's that word again) he is involved in some other capacity, eg. manager? Tour manager? (hey, why not - in for a penny...) then his involvement would be pretty full-on IF (sorry) he's on the level and the album is about to drop.
Or then again this could all be a load of bollocks and we're all chasing shadows? Who knows!?! Not me - I've had a few JD and Cokes tonight, shit I barely know my name right now.
All will (possibly) be revealed. Stay tuned.

I feel like there is a lack of logic here. I mean that nicely so please don't take it wrong.
Do BoC sell more physical albums then most groups? Yes.
Given the state of the music 'industry' do they sell enough of them to support two people for five years? Well, just perhaps but I'm a bit doubtful.
Do they gain any extra revenue though touring? No. Merchandise? A tiny bit from what we can tell.
Following that chain, and short some sort of benefactor, it would seem very unlikely that they would employ someone else to do what amounts to little more than nothing seeing that they 1) haven't put out new music in five years 2) don't tour 3) don't even maintain a credible web presence.
Along those lines, the 'too busy to do anything but work on the album' line is hopeful but an incredibly weak argument. Do people really picture them slaving away for 12 hours a day barely stopping to eat? Is this 'MDG' 'insider' running back and forth to them with Gatorade and therefore can't even take 15 minutes to sign on and back up his statements/proclamations during a lunch break?
Sure, not everyone uses the internet to a great degree but if they were really slaving away that hard I'd imagine we'd have had two releases a year lately. More likely they're just focusing on having families and perhaps the well of inspiration isn't quite what it used to be.

Bryan,
I think your logic is equally flawed and missing some crucial parts. Let me try to explain.
First of all it's rather impossible for us to state BoC is selling more physical records than most groups. That's quite a meaningless statement based upon zero facts.
A big income source of theirs, and this is the part you absolutely forgot to mention, is the royalties they receive for all of their music which is being used all over the place. Royalties are not to be underestimated. In addition to their cd/vinyl and merchandise.
Also people like MDG for instance are part of the Hexagon Sun collective. They are friends of the band. They do this for fun in their spare and free time. People like MDG have their own daily jobs. Everything they do for BoC is nothing but a friendly offering. They are absolutely not obliged to bring something out there or to work with deadlines.
It's done when it's done.

Just like the new album, the "boc" set will get here when it gets here. Yes, we've all been waiting a very long time, but patience is a virtue. I'd rather they take their time to do it their way and do it right than rush something through for some obsessed fans. Surely there is other music out there with which to occupy your time? I just don't get all these people that go on with all this "I'm done with the band because they haven't put out an album in x amount of time" nonsense. That's just downright ridiculous, and you know those same people will come back in an instant once the album release date is announced.
Patience, patience, patience. It will all come in due time. I trust that MDG is actually who he claims to be and isn't just blowing smoke up our asses for shits and giggles. The promise that it will come out by the end of the year seems sincere enough. We've still got a few months left in the year to eagerly await its arrival. It sure would make a great Christmas present

The operative word here is "did", as in used to (assuming you're copying his message verbatim). Yes?saurus wrote:He told me in a PM that he did live visuals for BoC shows... although let's not jump to conclusions. He also said they do things differently these days. Feel a bit bad that I have disclosed this really :/

You make a good point. But still there is a certain fishiness to the situation that Bryan articulated well. When I think in real world terms about the lack of new BoC it easier to be negative than it is positive. When I think mystically about BoC its easier to be positive than negative, but their mystical image seems to be losing more and more energy the longer they don't release anything new. Now in my head I'm just saying "come'on guys, are you real or are you not".Fredd-E wrote:Bryan,

That's what I said a while back and mo' fellow Twoismer's got mad because I used the word 'disgust'. Didn't know my opinion was so important to their feelings, really, so thanks I guess.
But in all seriousness....
Patience.... complaining on here and like what you said, getting mad at BoC is just childish.
We didn't get mad, I only said it was a bit harsh. Plus the whole them being parents thing was covered widely a while ago as well. Anyway, let's just wait. Whenever it's here, we'll be total freaking fanboys again, and we'll be completely in love with them again (even though I still am).Stry Craty Bya wrote:1969InTheSunshine wrote:Just like the new album, the "boc" set will get here when it gets here. I think what it comes down to, on our end of the deal, on the fans' end, is do you want BoC or no? Think of a real, true release by BoC as being like a special mineral that only forms under certain circumstances and nobody really has it down to a science just when and how it will. And if they did, it wouldn't be special anymore. It happens when and how it happens; anything else is a fake. You want something /like/ BoC? Take your pick of ripoff bands. Listen to my shit, it comes out like twice a year. You want the genuine article? Pray and be patient.
