Just preordered as well. Whee. Haven't even looked at beta footage I prefer to start the game fresh when it is new.

I've been looking forward to this for a couple years now (not counting the solid decade I was hoping for it) but I don't think I'm going to buy it.

I'm in North America and my bnet email is scott (at) subsun.ca. Please be my friend. I love this game. My computer is like 6 years old though so it doesn't look amazing. But it works.

Eh, I don't know, I'm just not as enthusiastic as I once was. Maybe it's.... I don't know. I feel like I've been left behind. It feels like the era of the casual "i don't give two fucks if I win or lose or look like a total idiot, i'm just playing a stupid videogame" gamer is over. I feel too much like games are all GRAAAAH WHAT IS YOUR RAAAAAAANK. Everything is an Xbox now.

Totally with you there. The whole online gaming thing hasn't been fun for a long while now. The sense of shared experience and having a laugh with your mates has gone. Like you say, it's all about rank, and I couldn't give a shit about that competitive stuff.

I'm absolutely rubbish at RTS games, which kinda rules me out of Starcraft...

Online play with SC2 is rather impersonal right now. Especially since they haven't gotten much in the way of chatting into Bnet yet. And who wants to waste time chatting in-game when you should be playing :? Also I'm not really down with how games are so achievement focused these days. Most of the ones I've gotten in SC2 campaign are pointless anyways. Achievements should be gotten for doing something out of the ordinary, not following mission objectives. However, Starcraft has always been about being highly competitive and your iccup rank for the longest time. 2 is not going to be different.

Yall'r still missing out though. The campaign is quite fun and with a number of difficulty levels, anybody should be able to enjoy it. I can't wait for player made content to start kicking in during the next few months.

88 I'll play 2s with you sometime but I gotta get a new processor first. Once I'm over about 130-150ish supply it becomes too choppy for me to play effectively. It becomes a chore simply to select units so I have to mass everything into one control group which makes it impossible to micro.

I hear you guys - not into the strict competition of it. That is understandable and I'm totally down with casual gaming. If its what you enjoy then fuck yeah! However, I like the competition and progression myself.. For me there's no better gratification than playing an excellent match - and that goes for winning OR losing. If I'm playing with friends I could care less about getting a win, it all depends on who I'm playing with and what kind of mood they are in. Sometimes I like to woop some ass, other times I just like to fuck around. It is what you make it!

I could care less for ranks or whatever...I like playing this game for the fun of it and playing my m8s over bnet for bragging rights (though we all suck so it aint that huge an amount of rights)

but the campaign has been awesome so far, but man is my mac not up to snuff to play it outside of lowest grfx settings
We're gunna need a bigger boat.

Luckily I've got a beefed up computer. Intel Core 2 Quad processor at 2.67GHz, Nvidia 9800GT GPU, 4GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, 1TB HDD. So I'll be playing on max settings, and it looks great.

I'm not much for competitive gaming, so I won't be playing the online aspect of it much. But the campaign is great so far. I've loved the story line all this time so that alone is reason enough for me to get it, which I did. And I'm sure I'll be getting the next 2 SC2 games as well. Yes, if you didn't know already they will be releasing 1 game per race. Wings of Liberty was the Terran campaign, next will be the Zerg campaign, then the Protos campaign.
