Wow thanks everyone, lots of replies here and they were all direct and for the most part insightful.

I decided to order SAW 85-92 to begin with, and from then on we'll see but I guess it makes sense to me to work chronologically and follow his sound as it develops and as the public discovered. Either way thank you all for good info x

Yo, well wow the last couple of weeks have been excellent in terms of discovering Aphex Twin. I found SAW 85-92 really excellent, and like everyone here says, very accessible.

SAW 2 has some beautiful pieces of music, but some are just way inaccessible. I imagine it takes a couple of listens though? I have also just ordered ...I Care Because You Do, and those will have to do as I cannot keep impulse buying so much, ha ha x

And if not, keep listening, again and again. It took me a while before I liked it, but now one of my favourites.
Unexpect the expected

My first Aphex Twin purchase in 1993 was Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Xtal is my fave track on this album.
