YO TWOISM just made a demo, and it's one of the first songs I've made public confidently in months.

Just wondering if you guys could share opinions/thoughts and tips to improve it over the week.

Nice work so far! A few thoughts -

Variation. I would say that the intro 0:00-0:58 needs more variation or to be shorter by half. In contrast I think the end segment from 3:09-4:22 is the strongest part of your song because it has a good rate of change to it. The intro melody repeats itself 4 times without any change, and it seems to me as a general principle that any more than two repetitions of anything without surrounding elements added, tweaked, or subtracted leads to too much predictability and causes the listener's attention to wander. Perhaps for the 0:29-0:58 part you can add the melody that only shows up for the 3:09 section, and have it act as a preview?

Mix depth. I think that there is some good depth going on, but I'm not sure that having a background element in volume (your initial melody) open the track is strong enough to serve the intro. Perhaps have it start louder and automate it in volume into the background when you bring in additional elements? You might bring up the synth that kicks in at 1:42 a bit to bring it more clearly into the middle of the mix and out of the background. I also think that you can learn a lot just by looking at that waveform on Soundcloud - the bass drum is overpowering for me and I don't even have a subwoofer, something you can see clearly in the waveform.

Last thought - the intro melody synth seems a touch muddy to me. I'd be interested to hear it low cut to perhaps 200 kHz, or to bandpass the delays from it. Then again you don't have a bass part so in a way it doubles for one in the frequency spectrum.

Hey, thanks a lot man. I must admit I am next to absolute beginner stage when it comes to actual mixing and levels etc. I will check that blog out and take your advice happily. I am also keeping the long intro, as I am planning to fade into it from another song in an EP, plus add some guitar. I am going to add bass as well but I am trying not to overcook it. I've been listening to a lot of Twoism lately, haha.
I terms of actual structure I do not know how to make it that interesting though, like after the synthesizer kicks in (which signifies a kind of verse). Got a bit of messing about to do! Cheers

He, nice work. The thing that I would probably adjust a little is the balance between the deep bass sounds you got going on twice in the song, and the bass in the rest of the song. Those heavy bass sounds could use a little more kick, and then when the rest of the song continues, it would be nice to have some more bass as well (perhaps a sine wave bass underlying your intro melody). This way you can also distinguish nicely between the intro, which would than have a little less bass in it, and the rest of the song. As Bryan already said, try lowcutting your intro melody a bit, and then adding a bass after the intro melody, be careful not to lay to much of a heavy bass over those heavy kick-bass sounds, as this will really muddy everything up

I'm liking those, Cupz.

'Troebelle Blazen' sounds like how I imagine Beck's 'Mellow Gold' would sound if it had been made in 2010 -- which is DEFINITELY a good thing.
I would say 'Grote Teen' sounds more angst-ridden; and the electronic distortion definitely suits that.
Overall, I like the unique sound you've got -- the ultra-compression and distortion, to make music that sounds different and futuristic, while remaining accessible and catchy.

yes you can create up to 3 sets.

and I didn't know Disco Inferno. I myself don't hear the resemblance...but its cool

Its probably intentional...but for my personal taste the beat in discards could have been a little more in your face.

I found strides a tad annoying to my ears. This could just be the cans though. They've been on strike all week.

And I love the way Variants start out like some cheap pop song and breaks down in uber sweetness.
