Ah ok, well then it being a short track probably makes it a bit different. I had some samples from a friend of mine which were slowed down ,8 as well, and all of them pretty much sounded alike like the Justin Bieber one.

I agree that 8x may be too slow for most of these. The Bieber works because the original has a relatively fast tempo so that short percussive sounds stretch out in longer swells when heard much slower.

It also starts right away and maintains interest because of it. ROYGBIV is a little better but only finally kicks in at 3:00.
