Well, given that boc have stated in interviews that they are not religious at all, one has to assume that this literally means they are not religious either way - neither christian, satanist or whatever.
Your approaching it from the wrong direction. BOC have stated that they are interested in science and clearly know what evolution is and how it works. Now, civilisation is anti-evolution because with civilisation you get farming and with farming you get selective-breeding. Any genetic mutation that say a cow, for example, develops which might be an advantage to it in surviving the human dinner-plate is quickly surpressed and so the cow doesn't evolve, it 's kept the same by humans. And, because the prey never changes the human never has to adapt (evolve) in order to "catch" it - the human remains the same. On the otherhand, the wild human, the inuit say does evolve because it's prey, the caribou, evolves. Spear-throwing or whatever might be alright for a few millenia but eventually the caribou will adapt (evolve) and in turn the human will have to adapt (ie. only those humans able to find a new method will survive and reproduce). And this, from an evolutionary point-of-view, gives the wild human a meaning to it's life whereas the civilised human is just living for it's own enjoyment.
With civilisation you get 'specialists' whereas the "primitive" human is a self-sufficient jack-of-all-trades. Now, when a big disaster comes along (meteor impact, super-volcano.. ) or indeed man-made global catastrophe, the primitive human has the advantage because he doesn't have to rely on the farmer, the baker and so on. The primitive human can stand on his own two feet. And this is where the references in BOC's music to the book of revelations comes in. I'm not religious myself but having read revelations it is clear that Saint John the mushroom-head knew how the world works (a couple of thousand years before Darwin came along) and I guess boc have noticed this also. "666" is not so much a reference to satanism but more a reference to Revelations. It's all a view based on science but it's curious that revelations seems to be saying the same thing. The logic says that civilisation will come crashing down and so does revelations (civilisation=babylon). It seems (from the interviews) that boc agree with this view from a logical standing-point and so this accounts for the isolationist, anarchic, anti-society undertones in the music.

I think it is all about culture and common knowledge.hexagon161 wrote:Well, given that boc have stated in interviews that they are not religious at all, one has to assume that this literally means they are not religious either way - neither christian, satanist or whatever.
