Mentioning the MHTRTC vibe
I noticed this a long time ago but it's something I hope BoC gets into a bit more if they end up releasing. I think a few of the reasons that MHTRTC was so successful was because of the amalgamation of styles. I'm not into rap at all but I appreciate some of the old-school beats. So when BoC threw in some hiphop beats over those happy-sounding synth melodies, I feel they created a unique blend. When I listen to when they drop the beat 2/3rds way through 'An Eagle In Your Mind' or the dirty hiphop beat in 'Sixtyten' (complete with record scratching!) or my favourite 'Happy Cycling' with that sick beat breaking out again 2/3rds of the way through and having the record scratching and vocal samples. Even 'Rue The Whirl' has a sparse, funkier beat. I think that music might be played at a skate park or an industrial complex...it's just a really unique feel to all of it.
Even though some of their other albums demonstrate this cool funkier-hiphop vibe, I feel that TCH became more sterile in their beat production (great sound, just different). Who here feels it would be great if BoC would bring back emphasis on more hiphop beats with warm, sparse synth lines?

I think it would be great. I can't help but bob my head when I hear some of their music like Roygbiv, Rodox Video and Nine-Rubber Wisdom. Some of their stuff makes me feel a lot cooler than I really am. Are you talking about more of a Lone type album? I'd be happy with whatever direction they go in. I think their next release is going to blow us all away.
someone's operating the apparatus, operating it at a higher voltage then ever before
I'm afraid that I disagree! I'm not saying that I don't adore this vibe they have going on MHTRTC and the EPs before, hell no... but the further away they have gotten from the beat-heavy stuff, the more sumptuous and emotional the music has become. TCH did hit and miss quite a bit but some stuff of that era more or less is just spot on. Beck remix is just perfection.

Re: Mentioning the MHTRTC vibe
While I enjoy all of their "eras", I must admit that there's really a special place in my heart for the vibe they had going around BoC Maxima/Hi Scores/MHTRTC. I hope that they still produce stuff like that, even if they don't release it (though I hope they do). I'd love to hear all of their stuff from that period.
Well considering that some of my favorite tracks include Alpha and Omega, June 9th, M9, and Spectrum to name a few I'd have to say I am against the idea of a more ambient release. Not that I am against the idea of some more ambient tunes but I would rather see them in between other songs. In other words I would like to see a more balanced record with a variety of tunes that go both high and low so to speak. Or perhaps more songs like XYZ that span both song archetypes within themselves.

I agree with both of you Saurus and Bleak; check out the track below, it has gotten comments such as "Geogaddi-vibe" and "Corsair-vibe". And I dont completely disagree with those who want beats or a balanced record. while i quite enjoy their epic tracks and their quirky/trippy/fun/upbeat tunes like Happy cycling for example. I still have a soft spot for the purely ambient stuff.Bleak. i've found myself longing for a boc ambient release. i'm in love with the song 'echus' at the moment...melancholic...beautiful and innocent. it calms this overloaded mind.

A whole ambient album in the vein of Echus would make me very happy. Beatless BoC is some pretty fine BoC.bleak. wrote:i've found myself longing for a boc ambient release. i'm in love with the song 'echus' at the moment...melancholic...beautiful and innocent. it calms this overloaded mind.

I agree Tonx.
I enjoy the music on many levels, but I would enjoy some beatless BoC.

I concur. I hope you've checked out the mix below, because it's f**kin awesome (features Echus too)....bleak. wrote:i've found myself longing for a boc ambient release. i'm in love with the song 'echus' at the moment...melancholic...beautiful and innocent. it calms this overloaded mind.

Wildfire, I like the first mix better even though all of the tracks are lower in pitch.

The first one is a peach I agree, my two favourite ambient BOC tunes are back to back on the 2nd one though (Echus and Sundown) so I seem to prefer it. I think the 2nd one is also pitched down and had reverb applied.

Hey Wildfire, I just listened to the 2nd mix. Yes, he did the same thing with lowering the pitch and adding reverb like the first mix. Most of my favorites are on the first mix so I like that one a little more. Neither one makes me sleepy. LOL
Since you are open to Boc's more ambient stuff I'd politely ask you to listen to this track and give me your opinion.
