Yeah, I've gotten a couple of people interested in some of their songs, but not full fledged fans of BoC. It's a good feeling when you share something you love with someone else. Good work Numerator.
Haha got the same. 1 of my mates is into the same music as me, Burial, nostalgia, massive attack, bonobo, and so on. He only gets annoyed by my boc addiction, and when we were smoking together I told him boards of canada is the best music ever to listen to when being stoned. We put it on, he ordered The Campfire Headphase straight away. It's not like he'll be a total boc head, but he loves it!
I got my friend into a few of their songs.
So far the only ones I know he said he likes are:
-Dayvan Cowboy
-Dawn Chorus
-Chromakey Dreamcoat
-David Came to Mahana'im
-Audiotrack 04 Side B
My boss just got an iPod two weeks ago and I turned him on to Helios and Boards. Knowing his musical tastes I suggested Campfire and he loved it. Helios not so much. I'm going to hold back on the Aphex as I don't want to make his head explode.
Me and my friend sort of got each other into BoC... at first we were uneasy about it (being in 8th grade, it was a bit much) but of course that all changed
Since then I've introduced it to many people, and the majority of them have loved Campfire and the more adventurous folks with Geogaddi.
It really is great to share something like this to people that can enjoy it with the same intensity as you do.
I don't know anyone who like BoC or any of the electronic music I like. Either they have become jaded and only listen to safe, "Classic rock;" simple, toe-tapping, smooth jazz; or they think that good music is what they can find on the radio (Eminem/Metallica/Rhianna, etc.).
I have nothing aganst music that sucks (I love the Ramones, Adam Ant, and TV On The Radio). I also am a huge fan of jazz (mostly avant garde), but it amazes me how these blokes freak out when they hear BoC or Gescom (Or even Ochre). They seem incapable of appreciating anything but the trash that they are used to.
