YELLOW wrote:the style on AA was all over the place, from fire ant to jealous of roses there wasnt much consistency. VTC was more cinematic and seemed deliberately english, just appealed to me more
therein lies why I like it. I love diverse albums like that, like Funkadelic's Maggot Brain, The Beatles' Revolver, any Beck album, etc.

just realized "bokeh" sounds like "bouquet". mind bouquet is quite awesome for a pop album! wonder if it is any relation to "jealous of roses"?

Sounds very 'pop' , but also has a ridiculous amount of funk.
Very interested to hear the full album.
But i've said it before and i'll say it again ; there so much beautiful stuff from Artists Valley that cannot remain unreleased.

I think the tune playing with the yellow spades is going to be a top 40 hit and used on many, many TV commercials.

Oh my god I'm in love with the first one, the little intro with the vibes or whatever. Been listening to it on loop and it's making me feel quite melancholly and a little lethargic. *sigh*

the whole 70s pop/funk vibe really strikes a chord for me because i spent a great deal of my childhood listening to those "classics" radio stations. bibio has never once disappointed me!

From the preview it seems like it's pushing in the Ambivalence Avenue direction even further. Which is cool with me. The man has a gift in crafting otherworldly neo-funk/soul. I'm all for that. He integrates his guitar work and 4 track ambient atmosphere into it seemlessly.

I never got into Ambivalence Avenue. I just couldn't dig it.

I'm a little more into this. I may check this out.

I'm like the one guy on Twoism who just does not generally care for Bibio at all

^^^ Two(ish). Sort of..

To me, he's like Mexican food. You LOVE it when you first try it, but then you realise.... that's all there is. Just more of the same wrapped up differently. I usually get about 6 tracks into Vignetting before I get bored. My loss.

Having said that, I liked where he was going with AA so I'm keen to give him (yet another) try.

Definitely appears to be leaving from his Vignetting / Hand Cranked style. And that was my favorite form of him. It makes sense though, in artist evolution one would realize that it was quite bare and the sound needed to be retwerked.

I have a feeling i'm going to like the interludes and the ambient parts of each song more then the songs themselves.

Sounds like some old soul track or something that he's chopped up on the MPC?
