Deadmau5

Post by Shadowshocker »

I was just introduced to this band by my friend, and I must say, I'm usually not a fan of the monotone bass kick trance stuff, but this stuff is great. I'd recommend it if you just like groovy techno stuff, though it seems have more character than most trance music. It has it's own vibe to it. It's also more chill, and will keep your head bobbing for hours.

I'm listening to the album, Random Album Title, and it's my favorite out of the rest I've heard. Go check it out!

It's not a band, it's 1 guy. Love that album btw.

Still trying to get used to the new album (For Lack Of A Better Name), it's just so..different.

edit; I wouldn't call it trance tho.

Mate of mine saw him live last week. Lost about half a stone in sweat and came back covered in bruises. Reckons he's totally incredible live. Me? I've never heard a thing he's done! :D

i really enjoyed his latest album "for a lack of a better name". tracks 2 & 3 didnt really do it for me though, track 4 is kind of cheesy but i love blasting it whilst driving way too fast! the guy is worth checking out at least!

I like this one

I used to be into this sort of music in the old days. I must say this sounds better then that shit that is produced today (The trance music world that is)

i think his music is good, but only in the same way dubstep is good [fad-wise]. the production quality is great, but it mainly focuses on deep sidechaining, making really hard catchy beats and kind of doesn't have any lasting impact/magic, if you know what i mean. nowadays everyone is trying to imitate him, and now house and trance music have taken a turn for the worse. now it's mostly just midi music made on fl studio or ableton or something :/

but he's pretty good, i'll give him that. i greatly admire his production and ability to make good beats, but to me he's nowhere near having the same effect as house and trance music did in the past; it's dead and gone now. anything beyond 128 bpm is just too fast.

tl; dr:
Songs I think are good to start with:
OneOne - No Pressure [deadmau5 remix]
Faxing Berlin
Brazil
Arguru

ROYGBIV Cover:

For the record, I don't dig his music (or dubstep, or any of that stuff really) . Just thought this would be the most relevant piece for this artist being discussed on this forum.

I'm with you.

I liked "Waking Up From The American Dream" and "Bored of Canada", but the rest of his stuff is terrible.
