Forgotten game soundtracks

Post by Julian Candy »

Has anyone else here played a video game and the soundtrack was really good, but it wasn't popular enough to be put up for download?

For me there are 2:

- Rocket Power: Beach Bandits
Examples: (most of these are gameplay videos so sorry if you cannot hear the music well)

(I love the Space Odyssey reference)

(personal favorite)

- The Grinch
Examples:
(If you've played the game all the way through chances are this tune was stuck in your head)

Yeah, The Legend of Dragoon wasn't that popular. But it had some good songs.

Check out this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6A45-i4 ... re=related

Wow, 747. Wow. Lol. Legend of Dragoon had some really nice scores I've always thought.

I would have to say Grandia, Animal Crossing, and Star Ocean: The Second Story (greatest rpg ever). Will have to find some links soon.

Also, FF IX had some really great tunes.

I know, right!?

and Nobuo Uematsu is a musical genius. Every game he's done a soundtrack from is brilliant and captivating. He's the guy who did all the FF games.

Don't forget Blue Dragon for the 360! His work with Mistwalker has been very, very great, I think.

But I guess his most memorable piece for me is (of course) One Winged Angel.. IRA VEHEMENTI, SEPHIROTH! lol.

Wizball, Commodore 64 version. Not obscure, but I don't think it gets the praise it should. it is AMAZING.

the music for the Game iNinja on, I think, PS2 was pretty good Drum n Bass-ey type music.

As aforementioned, the Star Ocean 2 OST was brills. Here's my favourite song off it:

Dunno if people know of this, but here's 'Thread6' from The New Tetris on the N64. Always reminds me a little of Alpha And Omega; indeed, the guy who wrote the music was inspired by Aphex and BoC:

Ridge Racer Type 4, I used to hit pause just to listen to this track quite often, the part at 2:12 is so lush:

That's the Shingo Forest Theme from right outside Rena's village... Probably my favorite from the game. I still have a working copy, it took me two years of searching to find it!

Also, Guardian's Crusade had the most electro poppy beats ever.
