GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC
Moderators: Aesthetics, Drones, Hexagon Sun
Question: Warp only releases 1 major title per month, correct?
Well, I see that after Bibio they're releasing a new Prefuse 73 album called "The Only She Chapters". (In April)
So... My new speculation is May...
(May would make for a great BoC Release IMO

Blu Ray all the way.
I would flip out in pure awesomeness. Now you can have the lo-fi awesomness in super HD.

The date marks the entrance of the Universal Cycle in the Mayan calendar.radiateme wrote:What makes you guess that?Universal Homeostasis wrote:Maybe 10.02
Could have been typically BOC to release on such a date.
I see now that there seems to be an dispute of which date the cycle begins.
Some say 10.02, others 11.02, and also 12.02.
really? you guys cannot be serious about this shit.Universal Homeostasis wrote:The date marks the entrance of the Universal Cycle in the Mayan calendar.radiateme wrote:What makes you guess that?Universal Homeostasis wrote:Maybe 10.02

BOC probably has more executive power then your standard electronica-band signed to warp, and I would guess they collaborate on the matter of release date, but i do believe BOC has last say.A_Northern_Soul wrote:Indeed.
I think any release date is far more likely to be dictated by Warp's marketing budget and strategic planning, rather than an alignment of the planets or somesuch.
What is there to belive, other than that the Mayan Calendar is an measurement for time, and according to that calendar, the last of nine cycles starts around now. It's up to you, whether to belive if the world ends, or if your cat starts shitting rainbows.
All I'm saying, is that the subject of the Mayan calendar, would be a typical subject the brothers might be interested in, with it's mysticism and also the many beliefs produced about armageddon and whatever.

it doesn't. i'm just giving you a hard time. i already gave my p.o.v. on the new album speculation, so now i am just smattering about being cynical and sarcastic. sometimes i don't know when to shut my mouth. my bad.Universal Homeostasis wrote:Why does it matter to you what I think?dp wrote:wow. you really ARE serious with this shit. listen to a lot of late-night AM radio?
You don't even elaborate your own thoughts about the subject.
please continue.

My reaction is often similar to DP's, for what it's worth, even if I don't post about it.
But I although I think Universal Homeostasis is making a very acceptable point about BoC probably being interested in all this mayan nonsense at least on some level, I still stick by what they said in regards to the whole Waco massacre a few years ago - in that one interview where they said they felt they'd gotten too caught up in current events and didn't want their music to fall into the trappings of what's going on right at that moment like that if they could help it. If they still feel that way, they'll probably avoid nailing this whole 2012 mania to a cross and releasing it as their new album.
And if they did for some reason release an album that was thematically mirroring back the way a lot of zany-ass people are thinking about things right now, I'd be less interested in hearing it. I don't care what people think about 2012 or the apocalypse and I'd prefer not to be reminded about them in what would otherwise be awesome, ear-liberating music.
