Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy - Director wants BOC on Soundtrack

Now, I'll be the first to admit - this is highly tenuous to say the least. but....

Just noticed that Rob Heyden, the guy directing the movie 'Ecstacy' an adaptation of the book by Irvine Welsh, has posted on BOC's facebook, giving an update about the movie. I also notice the movie's own facebook page is listed as 'liking' BOC. Aphex Twin, 2 Many DJ's etc also listed. OK, so is KT Tunstall, but you take my point...

The film is based and shot in Edinburgh. I also notice the Ecstasy blog asked for people to get in touch if they wanted to contribute to the Soundtrack (incidentally, worth a punt for a few OOT contributers, surely??).

BOC wouldn't be connected to this project, right? I've posted the question up so hopefully we'll find out.

if they scored the movie.....i doubt the probability of that but that would be unreal

I was thinking more 'contributed towards' rather than scored the whole thing, but that would be amazing now you mention it.

I dunno, I just read the list of artists on the facebook page and they all kind of 'connected' to the theme of the movie. Could just be good viral marketing I guess?

I'm glad you asked! Here's his reply:

"There is a track in the cut, our music supervisor Craig has to get the clearance..."

Sounds like if he needs to get clearance for something that's already been added to the movie it's for a pre-existing track rather than a new BoC composition.

Well if we still take what mdg said as truth, they were working on MULTIPLE things, so a song in a movie could be one of those. The Chemical brothers just did one, there was daft punk, hell trent reznor won that one award for the social network soundtrack. lots of big names are doing movie scores now'a'days

Just asked him if it's an old track or a new track.

if it needs clearance then it means boc nor wapr were not in any way affiliated with the project.

even if i saw a preexisting song in the movie i would be very happy. also the other artists listed i would love to hear, new or old.

Yeah, I'm guessing it's a track we already know about rather than something new. Then again, don't forget there are tracks that have long been in existance that we haven't heard. Wasn't all that long ago we hadn't heard the full version of 747. Another 747 or Echus would be lovely. Hope springs eternal..

if that was the case the clearace wouldn't be needed because they would be in contact with warp since the beginning to get the tracks. BEST CASE SCENARIO is they used something from old tunes and we might get a decent boc approved version out of it, but it's highly unlikely.
