Possibly, but it's hard to say. Jonny likes doing a lot of synth and programming stuff in addition to the string and orchestral arrangements he's known for, Phil probably wrote some of the rhythms (plus the parts he played in live to be looped and rearranged), there's guitars and bass, etc.

The band wasn't in the studio playing through full songs live to put on the album, but I think they were all involved in some way or another, and probably contributed their own ideas and parts to the songs. There's a lot of layering and subtle background parts going on that are easy to miss on the first few listens, especially if you're not listening close on good headphones.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

Yeah, I'm so tired of hearing that KOL is The Eraser 2.0. The band worked hard on it, and it's a great record.

It's like... did people even listen to Kid A.

That thing was much more electronic than this one.

Also something I don't like seeing people complain about, the length. So what if it's 37 minutes. It's still good, right?
I dunno, it just seems a little selfish to say that one of the main reasons it's not a good album is because it's only 37 minutes.
Just be thankful they put out anything at all.

I really like the way they track listed this one. It's claustrophobic (not much breathing room, but in a very well placed way) in the first few tracks--but around Lotus Flower it opens up with shades of well-balanced spaciousness, while still keeping an ambient and muted tone. There's a clear-headedness in those last few tracks, although sparse, and then Separator comes in and closes the gap on both idioms, in a soulful way. Great ride, and probably their most subtle work yet.

I've fallen in love with 'Separator' - it's like Cocteau Twins doing a cover of 'The Tourist'.

I like a few tracks on this... Now that I have gone back and listened to it more, I like it less and less. I just can't shake the Thom Yorke solo sound of it. I mean I love Thom Yorke's Eraser but I was just looking forward to another classic Radiohead album with this one.

i'm with you on that one man, it just doesn't sound radioheady enough for me...a few tracks have clicked through time, but i doubt they'll ever be able to top their two greatest releases (amnesiac and hail to the thief) in my mind.
