well the new Battles comes out in early June, so it may not come out till July because WARP seems to space out major albums.
But May would be better, its just warp would have likely announced it by now if it had a chance for a May release.

hi!

i can't help but post in this thread. everyone is so psyched! i'm flat broke and have no food. but this is definitely a mood-lifter!

the night the black box came up, i listened to MHTRTC for the first time in eight or nine months. not since my trip to scotland actually. i really hope it's a summer release.

the plaid announcement is great news too. but i think they've been saying "this is the year of scintilli" since 2009.

now time to wait patiently

our ability to be able to communicate in this way (a la forums via internet) has led to a lot of us feeling this way in the first place. its too easy to moan, point fingers, and have expectations of things as a community. i'm not finger wagging, and i am as excited as the next person, but lets all just take a breath, and see what happens. there has been some "feverish" statements being made in this thread. whether or not MDG knows anything or not is irrelevant to me at this stage, unless of course he were to share some more information.

don't really know what i'm getting at here, but i've been waiting so long for a new album that if it didn't come out until 2012 i don't think i would much more affected then it not coming out at all.

Indeed. He neither denies or confirms the rumblings. He just makes a side remark on musicians being people too.

Let's keep in mind he's denied false rumours in the past either here or on watmm. This time he did not deny the rumours about the black box. Why? Because it's true and as such no need to shoot down the rumours.

He's probably a little gun-shy at giving us absolute confirmation that the "black box" means an imminent new album release after alluding as much would happen last year, but the fact that he didn't deny the rumours is a good sign I guess.

even though i happen to agree with you that those were most likely his intentions with the absence of a denial in that thread, it's a logical fallcy called "appeal to ignorance" to say "he didn't deny it, therefore it must be true." the burden of proof is on those who say the black box means something at all.

just wanted to add some drama.

You're correct that you shouldn't use that logical fallacy to prove it's true, but we're not exactly using that fallacy, just using examples from the past. That he would always deny false rumors in the past, and him not doing anything this time means something.

Also I'm pretty sure neither he, nor BoC would want people this excited over nothing, so it would have got shot down right away.
