Why does WATMM gleefully trash Twoism so much? I know some members are also members here, so what's the story?
I'm honestly baffled, cause after a year of reading their posts and responses I certainly don't see anything to feel superior about.
BTW, I'm not trying to be "deliberately provocative".. I'm honestly curious.

there's a little bit of WATMM in twoism and a little bit of twoism in WATMM. there are people on both boards who have kind of a malicious streak when it comes to humor. WATMM is just known more for exhibiting that streak, especially when something happens on twoism that is, admittedly, often embarrassing and stupid. But they also just like roiling up twoism because they can get a reaction. That's how most of everything is on the internet. Twoism is actually the exception to that rule, by being relatively pretty free from trolling (comparatively speaking). and since twoismers have, in the past, collectively -responded- to this prodding by defending themselves much in the way of a Pokemon fanboy giving an earnest, heartfelt speech to a group of jerk-asses about why Pokemon is awesome and they shouldn't make fun, members of WATMM have upped the ante. WATMM isn't evil and twoism isn't stupid, but when they poke, we basically tend to react like the typical thin-skinned nerd who only embarrasses himself when he tries to manage the situation. Don't get me wrong, I find the atmosphere at WATMM to be practically noxious, personally, I hate the way they are over there, and I love the shit out of twoism. Don't mistake me there. I'd rather be here than there any day of the week, by far. I just also think that the unfortunate truth is that we're basically nerds and they're basically the kid that fancies themselves 2cool4school and gets a huge rise out of watching us squirm when presented with a relatively simple challenge such as reacting to "some guy called you a fag and said your music sucked".

Before I discovered Twoism or BOC Pages, I posted a question about the old tunes tapes or something, and I got ripped to fucking shreds.
It seems to me that most of the guys over there are very bitter. If you don't have over 1000 posts it's like you can't even post there. I occasionally read the Boards sub-forum or the Music Discussion sub-forum, but I never post there. I don't even know if i am still registered or not.

No problem dude. I'm glad twoism has worked out for you. It's definitely worked out for me.Pantheon wrote:I remember joining WATMM to post some discovery I had made about a boc song. Then 747 swooped in and pointed me to Twoism, and its been my home ever since
Thanks again man
The people over here seem to be much less volatile and more honnest.
I've got a WATMM account and a twoism account. I must say that I enjoy twoism a whole lot more than WATMM. People are nicer here.
EDIT: 3000th post!

WATMM is one of those communities that makes me hate the internet. People can be so cruel when there's no face-to-face, real interaction.
I'm new here but I think this place is pretty dang nice, although I guess I made a couple of dumb first choices. Like giving people attitude, and starting topics without searching first. Sorry about that. I feel a bit embarassed.
I've noticed that forums about MAKING music (like Elektron Users) are a lot kinder than forums about music itself. I think most creative communities are like that.

One can't take watmm seriously. EKT and Music Discussion is where it's at. I think this community should not overlook the music-specific boards over at watmm. Especially new releases.
The artist subforums are kinda meh since said artists are only active once or twice every other year at best.
General banter has more or less become the same as most other internet forums out there. Plagued by mindless meme reposting and assholes. They do an alright job at keeping the most volatile people banned. But a lot of people seem to have been grandfathered in to be exceptions to the rules.

...and nothing stupid or embarassing ever happens on WATMM?turquoise70 wrote:there's a little bit of WATMM in twoism and a little bit of twoism in WATMM. there are people on both boards who have kind of a malicious streak when it comes to humor. edit: Only kidding. It goes without saying.
I guess I prefer forums with a sense of humor that don't come off so standoffish.hexagon son wrote:WATMM is less foreboding than it used to be a few years ago IMO. It's just a different atmosphere, I enjoy it like i enjoy this place. This place has changed a lot since i first joined too.
Nearly all of my attempt at lighthearted humor have been either ignored, insulted or met with "read the rules" replies. Meanwhile people think it's hysterical and clever to perpetuate 14 pages of how great Catalog 3 is while dozens of gullible people fall for it.
WATMM is full of banality and non-sequiturs apparently are mistaken for cleverness. It feels like everyone is restless and bored and just waiting to pounce sarcastically on the first person who comes off not schooled enough in BoC, or even anyone a little too earnest. Too much arrogance, not enough interesting discussion.
But, to each his own!
By the way, if this same thread existed on WATMM, it would already either:
A. Have degenerated into an endless string of Twoism-bashing
B. Have degenerated into an endless string of barely related random photos
C. Have degenerated into an endless string of "LOL"
D. Have degenerated into an endless string of posters insulting each other
E. Have degenerated into an endless string of caustic sarcasm
F. All of the above
Meanwhile you guys are actually posting thoughtful honest replies. Twoism rocks.

Nah man, not my type X) but I love cartoons in general. My avatar right now is a mock-up I made that's supposed to resemble the opening logo of The Raccoons.
