Had a mad panic this morning checking an old mate of mine was fine. Incredibly, he got a message onto Facebook from his mobile, while dodging huge gaping cracks in the motorway. He was on the top floor of a hospital when the quake hit. Having lived there around 10 years, he's used to it, but he told me this was the most frightened he's ever been in his life. He's currently without power, eating by candlelit and relying on his friends to tell him what's going on by Facebook.
Totally devastating news and I just pray that some of our Twoism brothers and sisters are alive and well. I seem to recall we have more than one poster in that part of the World.

Damn, I heard about this when I got to work this morning. Really sucks a lot. I hope everyone is okay and that things get better and on track quickly. Defiantly thinking of them.
I've been trying to follow this news all day. As of now, there is a very high probability of a meltdown on the first reactor... terrible news. Things are really getting serious so I'll get some sleep before I get more obsessed.
it was only 6.0 where i was. no major damage in my area, but we keep having aftershocks. i hardly slept last night. the earthquake was the strangest experience of my life, i'd have to say. transport for food and other things seem to be stalling or shut down... aftershock just now! cell phone networks are over run.
i freaking out about this reactor blowing up, i'm less than 200km away.
I was close to tears reading up on the happenings at the nuclear power plant.
The day before the catastrophe, I was sending my brother that BoC live recording with video clips of nuclear explosions and the like, and I was deeply scared when I read the news on the next morning.
Devastating... it's so hard to put into perspective having so many things build and owned to be blown over like paper in a matter of hours :/ my condolences to everyone affected by it.
