Fan-made (unofficial) BoC videos

Post by Redpoint Beach Boy »

My apologies if this is a duplicate thread.

I'm sure you've all YouTubed Boards of Canada and found video after amazing video...then realized that all of them are fan made. Has anyone here created one? Do you have any favorites that you believe capture the essence of the track? I'm sure video links are sprinkled throughout the board, but I thought it'd be cool to have a thread dedicated to this.

Two of my favorites are:

Boards of Canada - Macquarie Ridge (Aurora Borealis, Nothern Lights) HD, Salten - Norway

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKSM-jyQh3o

Boards of Canada Old Tunes Vol. 1 Side B Audiotrack 9

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pFSC1x3k2g

Because "Muckinabaht" is one of my favorite Boards of Canada tracks, I searched some time to find video that captured the feeling of the song. I discovered an artist named Georges Schwizgebel and thought that his animations had a very BoC "feel" to them...particularly one titled "L'année du daim" (Year of the Deer). It wasn't until after I combined the video and audio together that I discovered that they synced perfectly, not only in length but that each subtle change in music was mirrored perfectly by cues in the visual narrative. Distorted menacing beats forewarn of a primal danger. At a precise moment in the story, trust is established...one that is unnatural. The nefarious beats fade until the realization that when an instinct (to harm) is suppressed, the unintended result is that another instinct (of self-preservation) may also vanish. Trouble returns...

Enjoy:

Oohh sweet, I was thinking about making a topic for this.

I have a bunch of favorites:

Everything You Do Is A Balloon (that's where my avatar came from):

Corsair + number stations:

Slow This Bird Down:

Julie And Candy (unfortunately it's only parts of the song):

5-9-78:

This one is I think tied with EYDIAB as my favorite of my favorites. It has an amazing remix of songs towards the end too. Sunshine Recorder:

Autechre - Eutow (lol what?):

If I think of more I'll add them :)

Edit: Oh yes there's this one too.
Acquarius (Version 3):

Even though it's guilty of the heinous crime of stopping halfway through the song, this really "gets" it.
Once the smoother bit kicks in, it's like whoa.

I'm going to go there and listen to Geogaddi until I transcend.

ddrpwner, the guy that uploaded and edited (I think) the 5.9.78 video has loads of good videos on his youtube and good music, apart from that video which is great, I really like...

for Satellite Anthem Icarus

I also made a video aaages ago so the quality is not all there, its for skyliner which was like my favourite song whilst making it,

also, much love to ever compiled the Music is math video, it fits so well
The past inside the present.

Probably, what's that sample from? It sounds like something from the 35 Tracks collection but I'm too lazy to listen through and find which one.
