A friend of ours, Antony Harding who is in the band July Skies, has put together a compilation album. It's a download only album and is available through Bandcamp for a minimum price of £3 – all money being donated to the British Red Cross Japan tsunami appeal.

We're on it (as Redpoint) with a track we recorded a year or so back but never found a home for. I personally think it's one of the best things we ever did...

Just listened to ^^^^^^ and I can recommend it, some really really good stuff. Even if you don't want to buy it for Japan (can't think of any reason), buy it for yourself!

As most of your news sources right now are probably about the situation in Libya, I can give you again my daily FB post. Didn't bother with yesterday, even though we had a sizeable aftershock!

They said in the news today that the water supply has been contaminated with radiation. They say it's not enough to hurt you in the short term, and the levels where I am are much lower than Fukushima. I still showered and brushed my teeth with tap water. They found radiation in milk and spinach too. Still bought milk and tofu. We have to trust the authorities otherwise none of us would be able to get on with our lives. I also need my coffee in the morning. I'm not drinking instant black.

There seems to be a consensus amongst people that the government and TEPCO aren't being fully forthright with information and procedures to help the afflicted seems slow. I hear a lot of people are making donations either through goods or money. This is good to hear, those people in and from the affected areas aren't in good conditions right now. I just hope they manage to keep warm and not go hungry.

The main road between Maebashi and Takasaki was quite busy today. There is gas (petrol) to be find if you are prepared to wait quite a long time. In another area I heard that some people had been queuing for three days. Incredible.

There wont be any blackouts for us today or tomorrow. Tomorrow is a holiday for most people in Japan. Laughable that my company's English department is "business as usual". It would be nice for my colleagues to be able to spend the day with their family.

I made the decision to stop being so hysterical today. There is nothing I can do about the situation here except "keep on keeping on". No need to drive myself ill, the radiation will eventually do that if things keep getting worse. I've not been thinking very clearly. I need to keep my head in check to be able to function. I do a fair bit of driving, I don't need to be having an accident.

I find out in two days whether I've got this job in Hiroshima prefecture or not. I hope that I can maintain my sanity until then. I'm sure I will be fine. I've always been "on the edge" anyway. I guess that's just who I am.

Keep on keeping on. Sounds obvious doesn't it? Bet it's the hardest thing in the world though. In my limited experience though, the mind is an incredible tool. In the times you really, REALLY need it to be there it rarely lets you down. I'm a total scatterbrained, fuzzy thinking idiot most of the time. Yet, in times of true adversity, my head seems to kick into gear, cut through the crap and just get the job done. It sounds like you're in that 'zone' right now and I think that's a positive thing for you.

Anyways - the news might have shifted back to Libya, but people in the west haven't forgetten Japan, or New Zealand before you for that matter. Stay strong, stay safe, and keep the blog going man. This stuff matters.

bookmarked this, and will watch i little bit later on. i did in fact get that job in east hiroshima, a lot closer to my family, and a lot further away from all the chaos. they are classing the nuclear crisis in the same ranking as Chernobyl now... Level 7.

I live on the west coast of USA, and the weather pattern is set up to pull that shit right over here. So I know the feeling.

Humanities subconscious as a whole is filled with all these dates that apparently mean something. This 2012 thing seems to be rather huge as it wasn't just the Mayans but also other cultures from clear on the other side of the globe, and indigenous tribes that are still around today believe this to be a very powerful time. Even Terence McKenna converted the I Ching into a graph that depicted high and low points analogous to the rise and fall of civilizations, wars, and various other events in our history. Guess where the graph is said to end.

Here's the thing. Our minds are incredibly powerful, and what we believe is what we perceive. We shape our reality, and if the masses believe this to be the end times, then there is a damn good chance that we could set ourselves up for a self fulfilling prophecy. There is so much information about this time in history and regardless of whether or not any of it is true, there are a lot of people out there that are giving this date a lot of power. There are some who believe the Antichrist is set to arrive, others who believe that Jesus or some other messiah is coming back, others believe we're set for Armageddon, others believe that a new world order and one world governance is upon us. Still others believe our ancient history has been grossly misinterpreted and that we actually have a binary star system and that a brown dwarf on an odd trajectory is supposed to grace our solar system with its presence here soon, bringing with it the actual fathers of our species, others think it's just the transition from Pisces to Aquarius causing everyone to go apeshit, while others believe we are approaching a possible singularity where technology becomes smarter than us, or we'll shift into another dimension, or that we're making the transition from a type zero to type one civilization.

It's staggering how many beliefs there are about this date! If there is that much information revolving around one day in time, then I think there is a great possibility that something very interesting may happen! I have no idea what, but I'm gonna sit back and enjoy the ride, soak as much of it in as I can, keep my thoughts positive, and do all I can to help any one of my fellow human beings!

Short piece on the BBC iPlayer today about a ghost town neear the Fukushima reactor. Pretty surreal stuff, especially the bit showing the Farm animals running wild.

Some guy sneaked into the exclusion zone around Fukushima. I think he is a bit crazy for doing it but damn, what an experience, must be like exploring a dream world. This is how it looks today. Hopefully this link works.
