I'm sure others have similar feelings, but another reason I love Boards of Canada is their song titles. Each helps to capture the mood, and i'm sure many have personal connections to their creators. They are as inventive as the music itself, in my opinion.

I recently sent a link to my friend (who I got into BOC a few years ago) of a great video of 5:9:78 (one of my all time favorite tunes), and we were compelled for some reason to start some correspondence back and forth using our favorite titles. Here's where it took us:

I hadn't heard of this track before! Enjoy your Wildlife Anaylsis, Pete Standing Alone. May you end up In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country.

Here's One Very Important Thought Joshua: Constants are Changing, but A is to B as B is to C. And back in 1969, when I was dating Wendy Miller and we were searching for the Smallest Weird Number -- You Could Feel the Sky. Beware of the Friendly Stranger, Joshua -- you're still a Kid For Today!

Peter, your thoughts gave me a Moment of Clarity: I Saw Drones sprinting through life. We should never forget to Slow This Bird Down and say Hey Saturday Sun through the Open Light in your Magic Window. Pick a Dandelion and go hang-gliding; You Could Feel the Sky!

Just remember that having a Farewell Fire isn't good bye forever, just Seeya Later. So Happy Cycling and may the Turquoise Hexagon Sun warm your spirit with its Dawn Chorus on those glorious morning rides.

Just a friendly thread :)

This is so well done. This should go on BOCpages or something.

Where is a classic posts thread?

PS You start your post with "Another reason..." but you've only made 1 post :?:

i just saw this on youtube. absolutely incredible

My name is Olson, but you can call me Smokes Quantity. I'm an Aquarius and I live in a telephasic workshop where I perform wildlife analysis and rue the whirl for a company called Kaini Industries. I was born on June 9th,1969 in a beautiful place out in the country and I enjoyed skimming stones until the turquoise hexagon sun went down and the color of the fire made it look like a dandelion.

Seeya later.

As an avid fan of both BoC and Poetry, I couldn't help but stumble upon the poem, "Especially When the October Wind", by Dylan Thomas, which seemed immediately to conjure images that relate to Geogaddi in particular with me.
Especially when the October wind
With frosty fingers punishes my hair,
Caught by the crabbing sun I walk on fire
And cast a shadow crab upon the land,
By the sea's side, hearing the noise of birds,
Hearing the raven cough in winter sticks,
My busy heart who shudders as she talks
Sheds the syllabic blood and drains her words.

Shut, too, in a tower of words, I mark
On the horizon walking like the trees
The wordy shapes of women, and the rows
Of the star-gestured children in the park.
Some let me make you of the vowelled beeches,
Some of the oaken voices, from the roots
Of many a thorny shire tell you notes,
Some let me make you of the water's speeches.

Behind a pot of ferns the wagging clock
Tells me the hour's word, the neural meaning
Flies on the shafted disk, declaims the morning
And tells the windy weather in the cock.
Some let me make you of the meadow's signs;
The signal grass that tells me all I know
Breaks with the wormy winter through the eye.
Some let me tell you of the raven's sins.

Especially when the October wind
(Some let me make you of autumnal spells,
The spider-tongued, and the loud hill of Wales)
With fists of turnips punishes the land,
Some let me make you of the heartless words.
The heart is drained that, spelling in the scurry
Of chemic blood, warned of the coming fury.
By the sea's side hear the dark-vowelled birds.
Perhaps it is the "star gestured children" or the references to "birds"? Does anyone else associate particular poetry or literature with BoC?
Saw a blind man walking down the street
Greets every person he chanced to meet
Saw a cop write a ticket to a man over fifty
Fell over laughing screaming he was a hippie
Ran into a granny had a smile on her face
Broke a trophy she just won in a race

Don't worry about the future
Forget about the past
Whether it's good or bad
It's a gas

Epic thread is epic, I've always wondered how BoC go about naming their tracks, I'm almost certain that some of the titles must have come before they even touched their synths but it would be interesting if they ever talked about that process

Come to Dust is already from a poem
shakespeare hath wrote:Fear no more the heat o' the sun;
Nor the furious winter's rages,
Thou thy worldly task hast done,
Home art gone, and ta'en thy wages;
Golden lads and girls all must,
As chimney sweepers come to dust.

Fear no more the frown of the great,
Thou art past the tyrant's stroke:
Care no more to clothe and eat;
To thee the reed is as the oak:
The sceptre, learning, physic, must
All follow this, and come to dust.

Fear no more the lightning-flash,
Nor the all-dread thunder-stone;
Fear not slander, censure rash;
Thou hast finished joy and moan;
All lovers young, all lovers must
Consign to thee, and come to dust.

No exorciser harm thee!
Nor no witchcraft charm thee!
Ghost unlaid forbear thee!
Nothing ill come near thee!
Quiet consummation have;
And renowned be thy grave!
There's also this interview quote:
In De:Bug Magazine, Marcus wrote:Much of the energy for the album comes from written word, thinkers like James Howard Kunstler and Dmitry Orlov. These writers are like modern day prophets, and it’s a much more fertile source of inspiration than just listening to other people’s music.
