Given all the work BOC does to make the music sound distorted, grainy and damaged, why would you run in the opposite direction? You want the grainy/damaged feeling to be extra crisp?

FLAC for this is terrible overkill, I will even go (Anathem! Anathem!) saying that it's a waste of gigabytes

Well how can it sound "better" if it is ripped from the original vinyl using professional equipment..? I think it's just more accurate and closer to the original release I think. Though I think that BoC sound best played from vinyl using good cartridge, good amplifier and good stereo speakers in a medium sized room ( i.e living room ). Sound is amazing compared to some crappy computer 2.1 speakers and mp3. FLAC / 320 with good headphones sound good from computer but nothing beats playing BoC vinyl through a decent hi-fi stereo equipment. And I know that 24/96 with good speakers attached to computer / through headphones sound pretty good darn better compared to 192 kbps mp3 for example with an bulk 2.1 Logitech set! Comparing Geogaddi rips, FLAC which I have is much more deeper and has a lot more spacy and crisp sound than the VBR rip. Will do a comparison of CD FLAC and 24/96 vinyl rip to see if there is any differences in sound color or feeling of space. The differences in sound become more clear ( at least for me ) when I use proper headphones ( i.e http://www.thomann.de/fi/sennheiser_hd_598.htm ) when comparing rips.

@lackerz FLAC and other high quality formats only keeps the music, as The Sandison's created it, in it's purest form with all the grainy goodness intact. I'd rather hear all the nuance that they've created in the studio in all its lossless glory, than listen to a dodgy mp3 with degraded sound.

I don't think so... Who knows what that song means to them, but the sample of the kid talking is from a 4-H PSA about conserving energy (Obviously, not to insult your intelligence).
