I need some help here.

Post by A Balloon »

Boards of Canada is by far my favorite music group. Without a question or a doubt...nobody else tops them on that. Their music is more than just music to me, and I'm sure it's the same for most of you guys here on these forums.

My dilemma:

I have no BoC physical releases! (I have some CDs, but that is obvious.)

I would like some help on where I could buy vinyl releases, and other assorted goodies from our favorite duo. If anyone has any good info on what good websites are...where I can find the cheapest and most reliable sites...what to get...

Any help would be appreciated!

Be prepared to fork over some dough if you plan on buying vinyl.

Happy hunting!

Well you can always try ebay, but good luck on that! You will pay top dollar!

Ebay:

Bleep: You can get the Geogaddi Promo on vinyl (as posted above):

Oh and by the way, I know it's not the same but I was going to rip some of my BoC vinyls to the computer, but I really don't have the time to do it.

I found a Geogaddi (Vinyl Rip 24bit-96kHz) here:

Part 1:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IE57Y779
Part 2:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=W44OZ12X

Maybe that will hold you over till you get a real vinyl copy.

Thank you everyone for your help, I do know what bleep is, and I do have BoC's entire discography and history practically memorized by now. I'm a huge fan of warp records :p In fact, everything that everyone has told me, I already know...I hate FLAC files...yeah I spent 2 hrs downloading that "Geogaddy" rip to discover that its an annoying ass FLAC file! ha...

Geogaddi 12" Promo has been out of stock on bleep for quite some time now...
And they dont sell vinyl on bleep.

I've seen some pretty good deals on amazon, does anyone know if it can be trusted?

Sorry about the FLAC... Oh well.

Anyways, I have ordered from Amazon before and have had no problems. It's a lot like ebay where if you don't get an AS DESCRIBED ITEM you get your money back. Unfortunately, you're not going to find a great deal on any of their vinyls, it looks like they keep growing in value... So if you keep waiting to buy, you're just going to spend more money later.

What are you considering a pretty good deal? I just went on there and there was a copy of Twoism (original pressing) for $2,500!

How was the quality of the geogaddi 24/96 rip? I love FLAC so I don't mind that at all.

Bwahaa that's a ridiculous price! :) And to me..there is nothing wrong with FLAC-files. And the one you posted is a fine one.

I had problems splitting it as well, don't think a lot of these programs can handle FLAC 24/96. Luckly, if you open the .CUE file in FooBar, Foobar will display all the tracks as if they were separate.

If you want to split them though, probably have to do it manually with Audacity or something

Hahaha, I wonder if anyone has ever played Magic Window on the vinyl? I never played mine, you would have to be an idiot to play it. I could imagine the screech it would cause on the etching.
