What Does Your 'User Name' Mean?
I've noticed some very odd user names on this board such as 'CatsareKloppervok' and 'ExitEuXa' etc... Some are so odd I am left wondering what they could possibly mean; why would anyone call themselves this? I wouldn't mind hearing the reasoning behind some of these...
You may be thinking "look who's talking, you've endowed yourself the name 'Goiter Sanchez'..."
Goiter Sanchez is an alias I use for my various art projects, be they audio or visual... The name stems from my love of the word 'goiter' as well as my affinity for the sound of the surname 'Sanchez'... I playfully combine the words into a title of sorts and voila! There really isn't much more to it other than that...
I look forward to hearing what all your user names mean, provided they mean anything at all...

Erm... mine's pretty self explanatory, given that my name is Ian.
The forums that I've been on before (Visual Pinball, YakYak, Way of the Rodent), I've posted under the name Fuseball. It's a reference to one of the nastier enemies in the 1981 videogame Tempest. I used to have a Tempest machine next to my desk and it was the first thing that sprung to mind when I quickly needed to think up an alias.

ExitEuxa is the name of a cracking album, from a great band: GOGOGOAIRHEART! They are from the US and i saw them live earlyer this year, they told me the name of that album means an exit to nowhere. If it's true or not [they where drunk after the gig] i don't care it sounds mysterious and i like it.
cmx is short for cactus mx. i was looking for something to put behind some piece of mashed up music or something, and i thought of a plant, a cactus. i think i remixed parts of a song of low with some baz luhrmann and coldcut or something else. that's why i put 'cactus rmx' behind it. then i abandoned the 'r' for no eason at all, so i had 'cactus mx'. and for this board, i wanted to have a short name so cmx was a good option

Aesthetics is actually my second choice. A couple of years ago when I first used the internet and I needed to use an username I choose my Grim on Mbient monicker because it's an anagram of my real name and I really like the sound of it. After I lost my password for Soulseek I needed to think of a new username.
This brings me to the explanation of my username Aesthetics.. It's the name of an "Autechre only" mix I made when I first started mixing, I wanted a name that started with AE and which explained the feeling I had with Autechre, after some brainstorming I came up with AesthetiX, so I picked this "albumname" to use it as my new login. After using this name for over a long period people started to know me as Aesthetics and not as Grim on Mbient, so I decided to stick to that.

Life is a Frequency
Derail was nickname I was given when I was about 14 years old. I used to ride bmx, and the friends I used to ride with at the trails called me Derail cause it was close to my last name. (Dibrell) Even though I don't hang out with any of those people anymore, everyone still calls me that after 10 years. (even my parents sometimes) The nickname just stuck and I like it.

My name was actually originally inspired by a DJ Shadow track that I really liked at the time (but have since stopped listening to).
But it seemed appropriate because when I set up my new e-mail after I moved from California I wanted to set up an account that I only gave to people I knew and then have an account that I could have all the anonymous junk sent to.
In that sense my account became disavowed, and I added 'the' to make it distinctive so I could set up an account for it anywhere.
IT DOES NOT (as some people have supposed) indicate that I am socially inept or depressed or anything like that. The name has actually really grown on me. I use it everywhere.
