yes i love synth pop! John Foxx, Numan, The Normal and depeche mode! The music was just amazing back then! Did you see synth britannia on BBC FOUR? It was a really good documentary!

pretty awesome, vince clarke seems like a real nice guy (as do most of the synthpoppers) and andy mccluskey (OMD) was rather funny

Synthpop is my favorite genre. It needs a PROPER comeback. Any *new* musicians who've attempted it in the last 10 years are awful.

Looks like nearly everyone here is after my own heart...

Earliest synthpop memories include:

Yazoo performing 'Don't Go' on Top Of The Pops

OMD - Dazzle Ships being played on vinyl

The videos to Art Of Noise - Close To (The Edit) and Visage - Fade To Grey

Kraftwerk's Radio-activity and Trans-Europe Express on recorded cassette

I can remember all those synth-pop/electronic sounds when only three years old as my mother played all of these (amongst others) on the original vinyl at the time.

My CD collection is quite extensive and is pretty much an electronic music timeline. Synth Britannia was damn good - I nearly died when I first saw it advertised...

Oh gosh how could I forget Gary Numan's Cars.. that is what got me into this mess to begin with (synth obsession). I was 11.

Speaking of which. I've been searching for a version of Cars with a longer build up than the normal version. Any idea where I can find it?

It may have come from a compilation. It had a longer atmospheric intro, only about 8 seconds longer.
