So what are you guys' thoughts and opinions? Especially considering a portion of you all are overseas.

I've always been intrigued by the language and ritual my European ancestors.

Thought it was a lovely day and ceremony, everyone looked great. They both seem like lovely people, i hope they are happy together.

Yes, kind of funny, but also a wee bit adolescent. Though I'm sure one could argue the point that a "royal wedding" was a bit adolescent hehe. I think it's fantastic that a culture has preserved such a ceremony from centuries past (but I'm sure it's went through some serious changes heh).

And I also heard that the Brits lost quite a bit of money today/yesterday since almost everyone had the day off. I hope it doesn't cost them, especially in light of all this austerity business.

Some interesting points above. I'm no royalist, but I must be mellowing with age as I just think best of luck to them both.

I think making some big anti-royalist statement is a bit petty and adolescent. It's their wedding day, let them get on with it. If other people want to enjoy it too, then great.

The whole street party thing is a little silly, but anything that gets people out into the sunshine enjoying themselves with their neighbours is fine by me.

As an Irish dude.... I really enjoyed the build up to the wedding and watched it for a little while, that Kate is one lucky SOB!

So many people are writing on twitter and such that they 'couldn't care less about this stupid wedding' but I dare anyone to have watched it and not felt that it was ...epic... a true mixing of the old and new, a glimpse into a world of wonderful art, music and tradition that has sustained over hundreds of years. Those choral pieces... the architecture of the Abbey.. It wasn't Hollywood. It was the real deal.

In an age of trashy reality television, of Donald Trump and Sarah Palin and Kate Moss and all this Super Sweet Sixteen bullshit, watching a royal wedding where the couple are involved with liberal work all over the world, donating all their wedding gift money to charities and decorating the Abbey with trees that will be re-planted - was a total pleasure. I honestly enjoyed it.

Im no royalist but the way i see it is:

Its fine for people to not care about such an event, but if they don't care, dont complain. We have a Royal Family and one of the most generous and down to earth royal got married, of course there was going to be fuss and comotion. If people are that against it, they could of opted to go into work instead of relaxing during the bank holiday, or do some charity work.

The Queen has said that if public opinion shows the royals should step down, then they would go without fuss and quietly. Simply though, thats never going to happen. In terms of economic impact, they take 70p from your wages a year - a small price to pay for the happiness this ceremony gave the world.

You can argue that the impact of a Bank Holiday on the economy was far worse, however UK GDP was reported to have grown in the first financial quarter, so people getting angry about this event need to chill out.

If you don't like it, go do something you deem worthwhile.

On a lightner note, Kate and Pippa looked absolutely gorgeous.

Hmmm. A strange day for a non-Royalist Brit like myself.

I'm old enough to remember Charles and Diana in 1981 and even (just) the Silver Jubilee of 1977. I've been REALLY cynical and disinterested all through the runup. And yet.... yesterday me and the Mrs drove over to see good friends of ours. Spend the day having a second Xmas (not because of the wedding, just a happy and silly coincidence).

Had a lovely time eating turkey, opening presents, and going for a picnic etc. Watched the wedding and I have to be honest, it was nice seeing the Union Jack being flown everywhere and NOT being hijacked by neo-nazi scumbags for once. I did feel a little like I was selling out my principles a bit by not hating every minute of it, but I can't deny it did make me smile. I'm clearly getting too old. Go figure...

Sounds good man, glad you had a nice day. Just out of interest, and im not defending the royals here, but why are non-royalist? im just interested to hear peoples opinions..

They would have earned my respect if they kept it small and simple and gave all the reserved money to those who need it.

Royal = ok, puppetry = not. This was fine in the middle ages but not in modern society.
