Royal = ok, puppetry = not. This was fine in the middle ages but not in modern society.
That's pretty much my line of thinking at the moment. I mean... It's really interesting to see all this intricacy and ceremony played out in a modern setting. But! It's a double-edged blade, so to speak... On one hand, it's great that almost an entire nation celebrated a union of love, of trust, of sincerity. On the other, it's pretty expensive to the population and may cost Brits quite a bit in the end.

I hope they are happy together but I have to wonder if it was really worth all the "pomp and circumstance"..

throw me in with the 'don't care' camp.

also, i'm nostalgic about monarchic ceremonies the same way i'm nostalgic about institutionalized slavery.

Just to clear one thing up, it was the government's decision to make it a bank holiday so any financial loss as a result is not the fault of the royals.

I also don't care. Didn't moan, didn't celebrate. I just sat in the sun drinking and chatting with friends. Was great. It seems like regardless of interest in the wedding, everyone got together with their loved ones and just had a nice time. I don't think anyone can complain about that.

Great link showing the contrast between the lovers and haters...

I think the lovers are right. Just be happy.
