Favourite modern band, yes. Favourite band of all time? No. That would have to be the Byrds, if push came to shove.

Pretty much the same. last.fm says for me that Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti is my favorite act. Yes, I have a hard time putting down his amazing records these days. But BoC will forever be in my heart.

My all-time favorites, almost by definition, for several years, have been BoC, Ae, AFX, and Plaid, in that order. Looks like we're in the same boat! Guess I should check out Black Moth...

Also, if i aint listening to Boards, i am listening to J Dilla, Madlib, Q-Tip, James Brown, Beck, Stevie Wonder, Joy Division, Aphex Twin, Luke Vibert, Kanye West (his first album only), Flying Lotus, SamiYam, Burial, Bibio, DJ Shadow, Wu-Tang, Polyphonic Spree, Bowie, Nightmares On Wax, Animal Collective, Four Tops, Odd Nosdam, Quantic Soul, MBV, Jay Electronica, Flaming Lips, Roy Ayers, M83, Cat Power... basically loads of stuff, but Boards are my all time fave.

It wasn't anymore for a long time, but i'm somewhere in Thailand now (sorry, not saying where!) where there are no tourists, just a big beach with a lucious valley behind me, and while im sitting here with my coconut, my thai weed, my girl and some beautiful Geogaddi on my laptop its hard to say that it isnt my favorite band...

They are not my favorite but probably in the top 2. Muse has had my mind and soul for that past few years and it looks like they will have it for longer with their new album coming out very very soon.

I'd say they are still tops, but other strong contenders include Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire, Nine Inch Nails and Radiohead. Bjork would still be in contention if her last two hadn't been dismal... Also highly enjoyed are Aphex Twin, Mouse on Mars, Plaid, Cex, Beck, GYBE, ASMZ, Caribou, Bola, Dan Deacon...

i gotta say, my favorite thing about BoC is just..

the way each song is presented to you as this sphere. alone, the sphere is beautiful, and a little mystifying. but, if you take a chisel.. you gently hack away at it, being careful to not over-analyze it, until you find these little pockets of diamond within the song. these little.. brief moments. a little twiddle in the synthesizer. a small sample. the way that chord strikes you. or even just a miniscule click. this sphere is filled with these diamonds, and while most people look at the sphere and say "meh, cool, but not my thing," those that are willing to spend time chiseling away will find the deeper beauty hidden within.

Then at the second place pretty much tied are Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Boards Of Canada, and maybe also Paavoharju.

Boc is defs the fav. But Animal Collective, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Ratatat, and a few others are all really also my 'favorite' I guess.
