GENERAL NEW RELEASE SPECULATION TOPIC

I've been thinking whilst listening to BoC alot recently that they need an epic, a tour de force album end. A psychedelic twist and turn of emotion and ideas, it's in my mind the only type of track they should think about exploring. Something like 15 minutes long, full of different colours, timbre and moods, its hard to give superlatives to what I am envisioning, but a very long, exploratory almost jam/slow building freakout. I know they don't really do very long songs, but it would be so incredible to hear/experience.

While not the same length, that's kinda how I view 747 personally.

I see 747 as a slow burning claustrophobic number, there isn't anything truly sonic freak out/psychedelic jam wise... for me personally anyway, i know you disagree

In all seriousness I miss the early/mid 90s sound. Amber, I care..., Spanners, and non-Warp stuff like 76:14...but Warp were on top of their game then.

I think that's why I keep going back to them. Even the stuff I really didn't like at first slowly unravels and opens up to me. My relationship with Ae always feels like unfinished business. There's always more for me to understand and gain from it.

Aphex is very hit and miss for me. Love some of it and couldn't care less about some of the rest.

Plaid is the only one I find with with a satisfying hit rate close to BoC.

Alrighty, let's set things straight. The last release that BoC released was Seven forty seven. The best conclusion is that the new album will be released 747 days from when the box appeared.

To be honest, when I first saw the titel 'farewell fire' it scarred the shit out of me. Since they only communicate through the music, that seemed clear to me.

I think warp became a bloody pain in the ass. Since they concentrate on film and artyfartybritpopsticles they seem to reject the people who've helped putting 'm on the map. Their artisitic vision shows what they truly understand with "temporary culture" Plaid does a funny one on their site now:

Though without Warp, they probably wouldn't have made enough money/exposure in order to create new records and send them to fans across the world.

That's true! But i'm romantic. I expect more mutual respect. apparently plaid got sent home with their new record a while ago as it wasn't to 'warp's' likes enough. That story turned me off.

Yeah I mean, while Warp are pioneers, essentially they are out to make money - as all record labels are. Especially in the digital age, where genuine creativity has been compromised with advancing music production technology, Warp probably had concern that the Plaid release was too middle of the road to be released in order to bring in profit - a sensitivity which has been exacerbated by pirating (we all do it, not pointing fingers here). Though on the flip they should respect artists such as Plaid with greater respect for the past income they generated and the great music they have produced.

I still buy the CD's of bands I love (im sure we all still do around here) - obviously many people don't nowadays, but that situation is simply going to get worse unless they tackle pirating with a level headed approach; not taking individuals to court and fleecing them for ridiculous amounts.
