Most out-of-character BoC tune

I love the picture comparisons up above! LOL...

As for which songs for me don't fit their style (or at least the style we know of, who knows what is on those unreleased albums...)

That is just an excursion into drum and bass that never really was revisited. I do like it though

I believe Mike is more of the keyboardist. I'm just saying that because he's the one playing keys on Farewell Fire.

M9 is a great track. yes, it may be very repetitive, but it also gains steam as it it plays on and becomes this emotional and deep layered tone that just sucks you in. Every time i remember to play this on my ipod, i end up repeating it about 5 times.

Totally this. The very best BOC tunes work this way - start out with something simple and repetitive, and build up using ever more layered tones, or increasingly straying or soaring sub-melodies (see Nlogax amongst others). Those tones, notes and melodies are the parts of the song that properly take us on a journey. M9 is a joy.

I liked M9, but I grew tired of it quickly. It doesn't have a whole lot to offer compared to other BoC tracks.

I remember in the drama studio at my school, it was a small boxed in room that was soundproof, we had a strobe light going, played M9 with speakers that echoed all around really loudly and we danced around. Nevertheless it holds a special place in my heart

I was listening to "Sir Prancelot Brainfire" today, and WOW, this track could have been a million times better if they used some different instruments and timbres.

The middle section is pretty good, though.

I'm not much keen on some of their early stuff where clearly they're pissing about with samples: "Iraq Says", or "Devil", for example. At least "Blockbusters" has the humorous cut-up edit, but it's still lightweight.

EDIT: "Prancelot Brainfire" is only "Camberwick Green" in the middle....exhibit A:

EDIT SOME MORE: so I think these are the most out-of-character BOC pieces, as they don't really do much with the samples - could they be early on in the lads' use of the S-1000, when they were still learning how to use it? I don't suppose we'll ever know...

I'm going to go with the Midas Touch Remix and the Trapped Remix FROM AFOT (The Hell Interface Remix actually sounds a bit Boards to me).

Midas Touch being the winner.
