it's just pompous, pseudo-intelligent music that tricks people into thinking that long songs with lots of vocalizations, odd time signatures and general 'style over substance' thing is just superb.

Go listen to Lateralus.
I agree with both of you. Tool are overblown, pompous, aloof, self-indulgent etc, but I (still) like them alot. Not as much of a fanboy as I was 15+ years ago mind. I think they suffer from a fanbase of overly-earnest schoolboys mixed liberally with overly-pumped jocks/meatheads.

Then again, thinking about, aren't BOC a little pompous and aloof too? And isn't some of BOC's music a little self-indulgent? And aren't we all fanboys who over-analyse the work they create? I know I am.

Pots and kettles maybe? Then again, I love both bands so I guess that makes me twice as bad.
finally, someone gets it <3

as for boc - i really see nothing on them. they just make music and realease it. everything else is fanboys specalutions and hunting for meanings. are boc fans pretentious? fuck yeah. but boc? boc is just there.

Well, I leave on the message of "let's not turn this into a Tool thread" and see that there's at least 4 more posts about them.

Guys, seriously... BoC.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

now i realize i'm only adding an extra layer to this, but:

you're making a post about tool,

to tell someone who made a post about tool,

to stop making posts about tool.

just fucking drop it. i don't mean to be harsh. go here or something.

even though i left on a "i'm gonna take my mind off of this new-BoC blather for a bit" post earlier, i can't quit hoping for the next release. my posters and CDs and records keep reminding me that something should be here soon, or so i once thought

Don't go trying to crowbar Toploader into the conversation Wyn, please. I know you're a big fan, but show some dignity

Wow.. I leave for a weekend and the thread has turned into this? Hahaha :) "and on the fifth month the album did not get released.. a black whole opened up in the center of the earth and all infinite possible scenarios happened at once. After that, God said 'Let there be BoC'".

Something really unsettling about that image, perhaps that its daylight and this burning ball of light is searing through the clouds, strangely anxious image.

One of my friends the other day said he doesn't really like BoC because they dont go anywhere, i just sat and smiled, because i really think you have to understand the bands "statement" as it were, understand the themes/ideas BoC's music is meant to create. Once you get it, its so glorious.

Its dawn and Seven Forty Seven is really creepy for some reason.

I never once mentions the four letter word you speak of.

Thanks for creating the thread though, maybe that'll stop the discussion.

Nice moon pic!

Update please, BoC... I'm not going to jump on the "I'm irritated" bus, but I was listening to Forest Moon earlier today, and you know, they are amazing musicians and I cannot wait until we hear some news
