Shut that Bird Up has also revealed to me what this piece of gear may be. After hearing some demos, understanding the sonic possibilities of this piece, and then re-listing to a few albums (so far) with this in mind, I can say I definitely think he is on to something.

I don't understand why everybody is being so secretive? :?

This is a forum, we are supposed to inform and discuss.

I guess we don't want to ruin the mystique for everyone involuntarily. If you want to know, ask STBU.

Yeah, I don't see the point. It's not like musicians everywhere are suddenly going to want to buy one on eBay just because a few people on a forum speculated that Boards of Canada might use it. This thread is more about a piece of nerdy BoC trivia than anything else.

If that's what people wanted, then they wouldn't fucking be on Page 7 of the thread that's all about trying to figure it out.

Really? I very much doubt that anyone feels that way. It's just a theory anyway. I was very upfront about the 101 and it's all there on the bocpages. No-one ever complained about that - quite the opposite.

Anyone who PMs STBU could leak it back on to the forum anyway and I kind of feel that if I PM him now he won't want to tell me in case I do that very thing!

STBU - PM if you trust me not to leak it, I guess...

If he told me the same thing as he told you, then it might as well be any synthesizer released from 1986 until today.

I just bought all of them on Ebay, so good luck suckers.

Is it a memorymoon or something? This sound sample of one always made me think of BoC anyway.

What's with all this talk of leaking anyway? I mean come on, like someone already said this is a place to share info. So you have an idea of what the synth is, stop playing it up and tell us because trying to get us to guess isn't going to make any difference. No one's guessed for this long, and we still have ZERO clues from you on what ti can be, so you're not giving us anything to work with that we didn't already have.

I still love this clip from the CS70 (as I posted on the first page). Very BoC.

This style is known as kosmische. There is a guy called Panabrite that has like 4 albums in this style and he posts tracks from 70's kosmische records on his blog: http://lunaratrium.blogspot.com/

No see, they throw up into a microphone, and then it converts it into the music you hear. That's how potent it is.

I wanted to know so bad that I voluntarily promised not to tell anyone else as a condition. Someone else will have to spill it or STBU will volunteer the info.
