Really great series called 3x3 Eyes. The only problem is the dubbing, if you want to watch it with really good voice actors then check out the Streamline dub.

http://youtu.be/Yq4x-cQQwoo

The reason I've linked to an illegal copy is because it was never released on DVD, and the VHS copy is very rare. The DVD version has a different dub that makes the story make more sense, however the voice acting is awful.

I highly recommend this series the story is so captivating, the characters are great and the music is just superb. :D

How important is animation quality to you?
Because most of my favourites look pretty dated.

Personaly, not that important.
I am generaly a little picky about the animation style however, im more into somewhat realistic and gritty looking stuff. Trigun can be a little, i dont know... silly at times, but actualy i quite like that, it pulls it off.

But thats just me, what are your fav's radian?

So i've managed to watch loads of Anime since this thread was last active,

Neon Genesis - Great series, it realy sucked me in. I found out that the producer Fat Jon has sampled the vocals for some of his tunes.

FLCL - I thought this was absolutely amazing, if not for the art / imagination alone.

Space Adventure Cobora - SAC is great too, realy realy oldschool and basic, but just plain good fun to watch.

Welcome To the NHK - Thank you Deutsche Diesel, I cant describe enough how much I loved this series. Definately one of my favourite series ever.

Outlaw Star - A realy addictive series also, it seems very like trigun crossed with cowboy beebop.

Im trying to find something else to wach now, im just checking out the wiki page for each suggestion in this thread.
All these suggestions so far have been amazing.

can anyone make a top 5 list of anime movies that they consider their favorite? I'm a fan of older school animation, like mobile suit gundam, and akira.

I don't know if this one counts for a Anime, and I don't know if this is already mentioned in this topic (don't have the time to scroll/ read all the 4 pages) but Deathnote is a huge recommandation in my book. Amazing graphics, wonderfull & intelligent storyline. The lead character is the bad guy, in stead of the good guy. I'm always searching for movies/ series where the lead character is the bad guy. I find that far more interesting. Dunno why.

So look for Deathnote. You'll gonna love it for sure!

To get an idea (first part of episode 1):

Beautiful story, animation, pacing and characters.

You can watch the eps online here:

Robots have long been put into practical use, and androids have just come into use.

Influenced by the Robot Ethics Committee, it’s become common sense for people to treat androids like household appliances. Their appearance - indistinguishable from humans except for the ring over each android’s head – has lead some people to empathize unnecessarily with androids. Known as “android-holics,” such people have become a social problem.

Rikuo (Jun Fukuyama), a high school student, has been taught from childhood that androids are not to be viewed as humans, and has always used them as convenient tools. One day Rikuo discovers some strange data in the behavior records of his family’s household android.

Rikuo and his friend Masaki (Kenji Nojima) trace Sammy’s (Rie Tanaka) movements, only to discover a mysterious café that features a house rule that “humans and robots are to be treated the same” . . .

Did you watch End of Evangelion? It's a much more suitable end to the series than the last two episodes, IMO.

Yeah I did, I loved the whole searies. I still dont know exactly how to interperate the ending, but I dont want to post spoilers for anyone here. I think it was good that they didnt end it with just another battle or anything, much better with an thoughfull ending.

Sublime....

Supposedly "Rebuild of Evangelion" will have a different ending. Not sure how I feel about this because I believe EoE was perfect.

I liked the Kara no Kyoukai movies myself, but it's probably not everyone's cup of tea.

I need to hurry up and download Serial Experiments Lain at some point, but I want to finish Tiger & Bunny first.

Other than I've just been watching a lot of Nichijou lately. That show makes me giggle.

Thanks!

That was really quite nice. The way it was edited was well handled, too. Cheers for that.
