Skrillex and Deadmau5. Fuck em! Oh gosh that "performance" of Skrillex is just lame. His knob twiddling dont do jack shit. And people love it! Im not even sure if he produces his own stuff..he seems so noobish and wannabeish. He does not even beatmix. And when the whole system goes to shit, people just cheer! Rant over. Let's see... are you looking for any particular DJ software? I could provide you Traktor or something similar, although it takes time to fully understand it.

Let's say that your live set is composed of songs that have pre-recorded samples and actual instrumentation. In a basic song, you and your partner would start the drums/percussion samples on a track and one would monitor over, changing them if need be, mixing them and possibly scratching if it were hip-hop or something like that. He would also initiate transitions. The other musician would play instrumentation on a keyboard, synth pad or something of that nature, and record loops if need be or if there's too much to handle with one person in charge. He might also sing into a microphone, which could be hooked up to a vocoder he would have to manage and pulsate.

There's a lot that goes into it, but that's really the basics.

Well using an MPD or APC is the same as using a sampler. The only difference being your storage area. Samples being stored inside and MPC lets say, or sample stored in youre computer while using an MPD. Both prepared the same way, both trigger the same way.

When I had said patterns, that referred to beats programmed in my MDUW for example. You can create sequenced beats, but if you wanted to change the pattern you save them as a different 'song'. then you can load them on the fly. I would occasionally use a loop, but I mostly just have beats mapped out, and play synths or have to have one sequenced. Depending on whats going on.
You can really fuck up beats with an MDUW.

But again, I really dont see the difference between an MPC and an MPD except for storage.

I think Baths has a pretty good performance based around an MPD. I use BOSS/Roland samplers myself. I'm really glad we can all bond and agree over our hatred for that Skrillex bullshit.
