When this happens to me sometimes i grab a sample of some work that is really outside of my "sound" and try to work around it or break it down in some respects. Occasionally that gets me out of a rut. Or at least opens me up to something I hadn't tried before. It gets a bit boggy when you get used to a certain working style or a certain sound of which you are fond.
