FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're about 5 miles away from this scary monster tonight. Driving home from work this afternoon we saw what we assumed was a house fire in the distance. By the time we got home, the smoke was blocking the sunlight out and stretched for miles. Some people closer to the blaze have been evacuated from their homes.

Totally safe where we are, but wow, nature puts you in your place every now and again.

Fires are freaking terrifying! I'm sorry man. I really hope for the best for you. Back in 2007 there were horrible fires in my hometown (San Diego, CA). The worst part was that I was away at school while, literally, some of my closest friends' houses burned to the ground. Totally unreal.

But you're right, super humbling. We forget our smallness in this universe far too often. Stay safe man.

I remember that fire, I was in town visiting a friend for the weekend. God it took 5 hours to get home to Long Beach. I had left my window open and there was ash all over my synths. There were also some fires in OC and I believe Malibu at the same time. IT was crazy.

Flew over the Rodeo Fire in Arizona in 2002. That was pretty huge. We were at 30,000ft and the plume towered way over us.

I'm from southern California as well and I can attest to the numerous fires in this area.

Back in 2003, we had what is known as Old Fire—a sprawling brush fire that burned over 91,000 acres.

I had my mother's car burnt up in flames, it was a fuckin miracle the house didn't catch, it was right next to it.
