This is why archives suck essentially, companies store these things just for the sake of storing but one little incident like this and it's all gone. If they're not gonna release some things for the public they could at the least somehow insure there's more than one copy out there in an isolated location.

Am I right in assuming this included very rare things that aren't publicaly available anywhere btw?

So far the strongest argument I have heard here is that BoC in fact does control what goes on thier twitter / fb page and weather or not to post certain things. So if they went through the trouble of posting about the fire then it is either out of consideration to warp and wanting to spread the news, and that thier old albums have been lost, not a new one. Yet.. I still say that there is a possibility that warp did have thier new album in stock and it got frieded too

If the post was intended to communicate that their albums had been lost, it probably would have contained the words "our albums have been lost".

Maybe BoC and WARP will be more motivated to release a new album to make up for lost revenue

Not saying that they are not motivated enough already.

It was fun finding all the little references in Geogaddi and everything, but get a grip man. It's a crazy thought, but Mike and Marcus are probably normal human beings who don't talk in riddles all day.

I don't think they would openly admit to a new album being destroyed, considering the lack of news and how secretive they are. 6 years and no official word I'd say that counts for my opinions favor.

I doubt any kind of new album was only kept in that warehouse. I'm sure it would be around somewhere else. This ain't the 40s anymore.

Really? Where do you think records are kept before they are relased? Someone's basement? Warp sure felt the need to keep records soon to be released for other artists there that got destroyed and needed reprinting why not BoC's? It also destroyed old stock as well so apparently this warehouse stored all kinds of records new and old. Also I didnt say that is where it was soley kept, I am sure someone in management is smart enough to keep copies in different places.

This "ain't" the 40's anymore? Really!?!? I did not know that! This whole time I was hiding from the germans and japanese... what a waste! By the way "ain't" first appeared in writing around 1778. Do you know that 1778 is not the current year?

I've been in talking to some of the minor labels who have been in contact with a few of the bigger labels associated with this loss of stock, and to be honest the majority of them don't seem that bothered. Most labels make their money in the first month of a release, with dwindling sales there-after. Whilst it must be a big blow, I'm sure none of them will go out of business. Pinnacle closing down some years back was a bigger blow, in that the labels at the time lost everything(because Pinnacle went into receivership). At least this time they'll be covered by insurance, and they've lost what pretty much amounts to dead stock, which they'll now get money for with the Insurance. For example Soul Jazz lost 15000 units in the fire, and they weren't bothered in the slightest!

For my own employer(engineering firm), a loss of stock in this fashion would be devastating, however I think the only real delays will be any new releases coming out in the next 2-3 months. As we've heard nothing from BoC on a new release date, I sincerely doubt this will have any bearing on their new release, whatever that may be.
