**SIGUR ROS*** 'Inni'

Post by Mexicola »

Nobody seems too sure exactly what this is yet, but something has been announced tonight. From the clip on their website, I'm guessing a live DVD / tour documentary type thing.

It'll be mind blowing of course :D

I also saw it on FB and in the mail, also not sure what it is. The sound of the first half of the video isn't your typical Sigur Ros, new directions perhaps? ;)

Unless I'm mistaken, the first third to half of the clip is taken, at least in part, from ágætis byrjun ?

It'll be interesting to see which direction these guys are taking now. I was sort of disappointed with last album and Jonsi's, too indie for me, but I'm sure they won't refuse to experiment.

By the way, that sound of the first half is taken from Viorar vel til loftarása, one of the best songs ever recorded. :P

I'm like two seconds in and I'll have to agree with you there.

I'm pretty sure that they filmed the concerts at Alexandra Palace on that last tour, so it might be something to do with that. If it is a concert film then it looks like the stripped down line-up of Sigur Ros without Amiina doing the strings etc. If so then it's definitely that last tour.

Great gig, btw. :)

I was hoping too but the footage looks like it's taken from their final performance of their Icelandic tour and the music isn't new either. Let's hope we'll have an answer soon.

I'm optimistically looking at this as a sign that Sigur Ros are still a functioning band. I was a bit concerned that they might split up after the stories of aborted sessions for a new album and then Jonsi going off on his solo projects.

They did indeed film Alexandra Palace gig(s?). That was a fantastic show.

This looks incredible! Yeah, a live DVD is my bet. But I'm pretty sure there's a new Sigur Ros album planned for sometime in the not too distant future?
This looks breathtaking, a nice change from their Heima visual aesthetic. I also recognise the opening to Viorar vel til loftarása... but there's a beautiful soft piece in there that I don't recognise. Maybe it's a live clip?

I heard an interview with Jonsi when his solo album came out. He admitted the other guys in the band were all off 'having babies and things' hence why he took the chance to do the solo album/tour. I got the impression Sigur Ros were taking a sabbatical rather than quitting per se.

I love Sigur Ros! If they are back together and planning a tour I am there with bells on. Every video I've seen of them playing live looks absolutely magical.
