'Boards Of Canada' Bull Shit

Post by dj_todos »

Its incredible how much shite has been spewed from various places over the past weeks. I keep hearing a lot about this watmm place. I dont venture there. Defo heard enough in the past to know better.
These people talking about Redpoint, Foula, getting tapes, meeting Boards etc etc.....the list goes on, is rediculous.
What I know, a handful of others, and the majority should know is that we have no answers. No solid answers. When this code came out it was from BoC, it was on their site. When looking and trying to solve the code I took anything else with a pinch of salt as it wasnt hard evidence from BoC. You shouldnt need other sites,clues,666 or whatever to assist. The answers are there to be found in what we knew was a solid piece of material.

And now the date has past. I went to Earlyburn, it was great and I wasnt the only one there. It was the place that had derived from the code (although not a complete code), the 'hard' material from BoC. Im still no nearer to any answers that code may hold and until I get some 'hard' material again, whether via their site, or pictures people have taken containing Mike and Marcus at another location, im not convinced. I hope I do find out some day. It would be funny however if an interviewer does his research and finds all this, then asks BoC if they realised these people went here because of 'said' code and they reply with "theyre crazy" or "I know its amazing", then im happy. Maybe us at Earlyburn made a little history there? Who knows!

The people who went to Earlyburn have nothing to hide. We had a great time, we will tell you all about it, answer any questions and the pics are there to prove it.
I will be dissapointed if BoC were somewhere else that night and we got the code wrong or only half complete but in the time we had and the efforts we put in it was good enough for us. I never for once thought id ever see BoC live or meet them, even with all the conicidences that were coming up in the code and how perfect the location we'd found seemed to be. With that in mind going, I wasnt devastated. We made the most of it and said we would regardless.

Theres only a handful of people that put in considerable time and effort in attempting to solve the code and actually make something happen. That code brought good people together. Thanks Boards of Canada.

Those who were there - pleasure to meet you and have good times
Those who werent there - you missed out
Those who were somewhere else - lets see your evidence, hear your stories
Those who speal this bollox etc etc - grow up

I must add I feel people have disrespected the efforts done by the members that made Sat night happen.
There has been a handful of people that really put in some time and effort to get to what we got from that code. Then theres these people who have faked shit : Clues, Tapes, Locations (Redpoint), even tracks. Theyve taken people for a ride, sent them on the wrong directions and pretty much messed with their heads. And for what? Kicks?
I guess thats the internet but I though BoC fans and things related to them was a little more grown up. People have spent time and money on the run up to Sat and enjoying Sat, whilst others have sat at home and forged shit. Nice one!
The people that were there on Sat didnt buy any of it. Maybe took it into consideration but never for once believe it. The same is happening after the event. You failed, and at the same time made yourself look like a complete pleb. You give us a bad name, let alone Boards!
I dont want to be associated with that bollox.
I hope Xerox comes out with some evidence regarding his night. I really do but its the other peoples bollox that has made me doubt him. I dont want to doubt him but I have no choice. Its now the same for us, the people that made Sat happen. Will people in the future not believe what we say because so many bad apples have jus chatted nonsense?
Xerox says 60 people were there on Sat. 1 out of that 60 has spoken up. 1!! I mean, why is this not everywhere? If it was me id be showing off to hi-heaven. Especially my pics of the screens, the crowd and of course....the photo of me with 'layed back' Mike!!!
The thing that really puzzles me is... Why would BoC do the code, invite people to a gig, (better yet, one of their Red Moon parties) and not even play? People potentially coming from all over and they dont even play.

Things that have come out of Sat :
1) Bogus stories
2) Fake tapes, tunes etc
3) Stories that might be true but dont have any evidence

4) Loads of beautiful pics and tales of such a great time at Earlyburn by the people there. And thats gonna grow even more.

Maybe our co-ordinates werent right. We only had half the code complete. Due to where we went and what we did I feel we kinda deserve an answer if someone saw Boards elsewhere.

Please show me something to prove me wrong, if not your a good story teller.

The thing with the fakers is that they just needed ignoring. I tried to question or pour scorn on them over on WATMM but still people were ready believe shit. Perhaps it's just easier for older wiser heads to not get excited by this kind of thing or something but if it didn't come from the BOC site or actually explain something about the code it was always worthless. Why did they do it? Why put the effort in? If they'd applied themselves to solving the riddle instead maybe we would have got futher. It's a mentality I just can't fathom.

yeah, because you should believe what you hear on internet forums. although after this whole debacle, you can't take seriously what you see on musicians' pages. i still can't get over the intensity with which people tried solving this shit, getting plane tickets, etc.

p.s. *ridiculous

oh yeah, and lol, this forum is ridiculous, more fanboyish than watmm is, that's for damn sure.

As for this forum being rediculous. Uve jus signed up for it. You thinking straight mate? Cant quite understand why you would do that??? You must have really struggled with the code! :?:

Hah! When you use the word "fanboy" you sound just like one of those stupid 12-year-olds on a video-game forum who go around on their high horse calling people fanboys because they don't own 23 different games consoles. In fact, that's the only place I've heard that word used. Well guess what? I'm a massive BoC <b>fan</b>, as are most people here. It really seems pathetic when idiots pretend not to care at all, and start mocking people simply because those people are massive fans. Get off your high horse.

where do i start?

oh, i found the whole red moon madness to be a bit of a stretch for my liking, i passively tried to figure out the music386 site, but that was it. a lot of good that was, anyway. outside of that, i found this all to be interesting, but the seriousness, and the downright anger some harbor at boc not showing up is really unwarranted. i found that anger more here, at twoism, than watmm. thats what i meant by the forum being ridiculous and the fanboy tinge, etc.

the forum is straight, i just think the RM hype was a bit overplayed, especially here, but being a boc forum it's understandable. more than anything, the thread was what i thought to be silly.

didn't mean to come off as a dick, i just think it's kind of self-centered how some believe boc specifically told them that a party was definitely imminent, based on numbers of an inverted picture of an eye. my callous posts were devoted more to those than to those who went, had fun with no complaints, or those who don't harbor any negative feelings because of the debacle.

as for your response, lawrence hall, slow your roll, i got no beef! disregard my comments and lets start fresh. my name's jimmy. ;););)

i just don't see why a group like boards of canada and their output, internet/music/otherwise, should be taken as anything other than farce or simple fun to be administered with a fair amount of salt, like at least a teaspoon. what with the old releases whose existence is still hella debated, loosely relevant sublminal messages and other sound experiments in albums, and now the red moon bit. they don't do many interviews, they touted themselves as unrelated until recently, everything about the mystique seems like they're poking fun at the idea of a mystique. so i don't see why there's a reason to buy into it.

i LOVE boards of canadas' albums, i definitely consider myself a fan. outside of playful participation in enigmas like the redmoon site, i just don't see how reading into such matters so seriously is warranted, as so far, they just love fucking around.

You make it sound like we didnt know this before trying to get anywhere with the code in the first place. Whats the harm in it? We didnt genuinely believe we would find anything at the start.
