Thanks! I'm glad you like the track selection on this one. I actually wondered what you'd think of it as there are a lot of vocals in this one. I honeslty thought you'd not appreciate much vocals as I remember you saying that?

My printer is broken so I decided to upload it to Kunaki. I ordered 3 copies for a ridiculous $11.25 including shipping, to Holland. While putting my mix on my site I thought about offering it but didn't actually expect anyone to purchase it. The CD will be deleted if there are zero sales in a 180 day period... so it depends on how often this is going to be ordered but I expect this to be deleted in about 3/4 year.

yeah trying to get back in the swing of things living without internet sort of sucked but i finally got my student loan...so yeah can't believe I missed out on Move of Ten, Vibert, and Global Goon when it was released...I feel like a kid on Christmas Day right now

I meant something else with "missed you last year". It seems like there are always a few listeners that come around and you do reply often to my mixes. I didn't got a reply in my Best of 2009, that's why I said it. I didn't notice that you posted less than normal in the past year to be honest... but that's because you are more of a lurker than a poster

A new video by Body Language from a song I used in the Best of 2010. I wish they had this version available at the time I created the mix. It's much more diverse than the original version.

This edition is an extended version of my best of 2010 Mixcloud / Bleep.com entry. I contributed my Best of 2010 to this competiton but it had a timelimit of 50 minutes.
This mix is 68 minutes with more tracks than ever before and also available on CD for only ~$6 incl shipping! (Order with Paypal or Creditcard). No money being made whatsoever! This is just to offer a dirt-cheap physical copy, which I created as an alternative as I can't burn/print it this cheap at home.
Please read this and support me next year to grab the attention of Bleep and Mixcloud.

My annual mixes always result in purchases of certain albums by listeners.. so it works the other way around

yeah, i get that, but wouldn't you need to get permission, pay licence fees and all that for this to actually be legal? i mean, i know you're doing this for your and our fun, and that's noble, but isn't this actually what can make you go to jail? putting copyrighted stuff up for download (even on this site!) is illegal, so i can't even image what shit can cause selling it, even if for no profit whatsoever. you even use bleep's logo on this! sorry to be a bummer but if i was in one of those bands and found out there's something like this out there i'd rather be pissed. unless you actually got permission, then good job. i'm jelly, seriously.

edit: i'm mainly asking because i work in the so-called industry and if this happened to me i'd scratch my head and consider legal action. but don't worry, i won't tell anyone!

I totally hear you but I personally think I don't financially harm anyone I used in the mix. I'm all for copyright protection (as being the case on twoism) and the artist need to get their share in all circumstances.

This year I decided to offer an online copy because my printer at home is broken en therefore I couldn't create a hardcopy for my own and friends use. So I decided to use the Kunaki service which burns the mix onto a CDr for me, incl hq print of the cover. A few have bought the copy and I gave away a few for free. I also did it to get attention to the way this Bleep competition is set up. I wanted to grab some attention from Bleep so they might consider to set the competion rules slightly different next year, if they even do it again.
I'm well aware that the chance of getting my point across to Bleep.com is very small though but I believe this is everything I have in my power to get a few more listeners next year and therefore seek their attention.
The Bleep logo is a joke and so the artwork is because this year it was done for the Bleep Best of 2010 competition.. it isn't done to get (more) money but to get some more attention as you might understand by now.

It's funny because it didn't cross my mind until you made me think it over a bit more but Girl Talk is a pretty good example. He uses that much songs (snippets) in his mixes that it would cost a shitload of money to get all the licence fees, if he even gets permission from all the artists he uses. If there is one who doesn't give permission the whole mix can't get released. That's why he releases it for free because otherwise it wouldn't be possible at all. The copyright rules are outdated on this one and should be revised but it would be quite a task to narrow what is and what isn't legal.
He is pushing the boundaries though because he releases his mixes for free online (as do I) but he is getting quite popular because of this and now is making a living of it by doing gigs all around the world. Now that in my opinion is on the edge, if not over it, but still not illegal.

Putting mixes online for free is totally acceptable in my opinion, whether this is legal or not always has been a grey area. I know that my mixes result in buying music from certain artists of which one never heard before and probably would never come across as well. So the way I look at it is that it helps to raise money/popularity for certain artists. It shouldn't be about the money but in the end this is always what it is about rather than using someones work.

You might want to watch Good Copy, Bad Copy to understand why the copyright industry should change.

girltalk is a different kind of using other people's songs. apples and oranges.

this is not about putting a mix online, i doubt anyone cares (sometimes i do get mails from labels asking to take stuff down, though), but to print it and sell it, even if it's not you making the money, is a bit of a crossing the line for me. my point is that someone IS making money on this, namely the printing company/store you use. i wouldn't want for anyone to print my articles in a magazine without asking me first even if the magazine was free/for friends. it's basically piracy and bootleging. it's not that you might harm anyone, it's just, you know, common courtesy not to do it. not in any physical form.

and it always is about money, if it wasn't everything would be free.

it's sampling. it's a creative use and there are different laws for it, i believe. plus everyone knows people let him slide only because it's the most uncool not to let him slide. also, he's not a very big name, really. same with washed out. you think he cleared that sting sample? ha!

as soon as girl talk will make some real money (if ever), labels will start to sue him, don't worry.
