Has BoC "gotten" to you?

What I mean by this is are you noticing strange references and weird numerical patterns that would ordinarily be deemed meaningless, or is it just me? For example, the other day I freaked out when my total at lunch was $6.66. Also, I got a weird feeling when I noticed that two characters in an old Monty Python sketch were named Michael and Marcus. I know there's no such thing as listening to too much BoC, but I am starting to get worried.

It's a matter of selective attention: what you choose to notice. It's not that you "see" more BoC type references, you just happen to consciously take notice of them now.

But yeah, it happens to me too.

Well put. I agree with your statement, and would like to add that this "selective attention" is probably the result of what psychologists call "too much free time," or what mature adults call "unemployment."

I can't say that is me, but perhaps an evil twin, maybe even an aphex twin. And if I'm reading that correctly, it comes from Bristol. In my Massive Attack/Portishead obsession days, I would have shit to have been there to purchase that "warb crusty" whatever in God's name that is. No, I am afraid my 6.66 came at a Taco Bell, which goes along with my previous "unemployment" revelation. But thanks for the thought.

I'll do things like if I'm filling my car up with gas, I usually put somewhere around $60 so I'll do $60.10 (sixtyten).

Then at my old job, when we'd assign to go orders for food (it was a restaurant), we'd put numbers with the orders. The numbers I'd choose were usually:

1969
5978
6606
777 (Autechre song)
555 (Ochre song)
6010
etc.

i became very aware of boc's influence on me a few years back...as much as they opened my eyes to beauty, there is certainly darker elements snuck in. i suppose its the balance of life.

Well it's not really surprising, the world is guided and dominated by maths, it's the root of the very frame of the cosmos, at least in our experience/language based on physics etc. So yes numbers WILL crop up everywhere and have some sort of connection to everything else, but it doesn't mean it's on purpose, it just means it stems from the same source

I hate numbers, but I understand your point. Ever since I started listening to BoC I notice patterns everywhere, and things that before were kind of chaotic make perfect sense now.
