I am listening to this track now and it's great. I love Massive Attack and I love Burial so it's only fitting that I would love this.

Anyone know who does the vocals? Is it Hope Sandoval?

Everybody keeps saying that, some people have been saying Martina Topley bird. I've done some googleing and on most of the websites I see the name Hoep Sandoval. She doesn't even sound like Topley Bird anyway.

The way things are phrased makes it sound like Hope, but then the vocals also have a drawn out rasp in some parts of the track, so it very well could be Martina. I posted on the blog that I'm leaning more toward Hope.

Anyone have an MP3 so I could play around with pitch shifting them?

It's the only album that has really stood out in the last 10 years as something different. I'm not saying it's the only relevant release but I can't recall anything other than this that has stood out of the crowd like it has.

randomly pulled out the ghost hardware and kindred 12"s last night. this stuff will never get old. classic as music has the right or saw85-92 (and in fact the first time i heard burial it brought a whole huge flood of emotion in the way the saw85-92 did the first time i heard that, 15 years ago)

Hmm it stands out as something different for sure. But its not ground breaking. There were some really interesting records in the last 10 years, its hard to be ground breaking these days though.

He was clever and took the sensibilities of 2-step/Garage and combined that with the lo fi ethic of lots of other more "organic" electronic acts. The focus on crystal clear production around much of electronic music is what causes much of it to blend in with the crowd too easily, he definitely helped change that. But the main ground breaking thing about his work are the basslines and melodies which really are out of this world. He's a brilliant musician and that is why he stands out.
